Got a low profile rear diff bolt in order to protect it and make it easier to take off. Part numbers are in pic (it is the same part number as the front diff bolt).

diffs are protected with aftermarket skids
the OEM bolt does not protrude much
allen head bolts are usually easier to strip than hex

Aftermarket diff skids hang too low and get caught up on things. This is the oem bolt that exists on the front diff. It protrudes less than the rear bolt. The stock oem bolt currently on the diff protrudes more than its protective cover as seen in the pic. I have no problems with stripping of my front diff bolt. Use the proper tools and torque specs and it is a non issue. There should never be any issue with stripping and if there is then you’re not doing something right.

It is an oem bolt and is SS. If it gets plugged with things then you can use a pick to remove the debris. Much better than losing a bolt on the trail and having all of your diff fluid come out.

Any questions feel free to give me a holler.
And a solid tip is to make sure the depth is the same or shorter than the uniden bearcat 980ssb. Anything longer and it’s gonna be really hard to fit. Not saying it can’t be done but I had to cut quite a bit.

I finally got around to installing a console vault! The one I selected was from Amazon, its Hooke Road Tacoma Center Console Lockbox - Great OEM fit, instructions were a bit difficult but pretty easy to figure out how to put together on your own. Didn't have any of the issues that were mentioned in the reviews. I cut the factory carpet to fit over it and added a few strong magnets on the insides of the walls to hold my firearms and a couple mags while on the road. Really strong and sturdy steel construction with no way to get to the interior screws with the cover locked. Overall really happy with it!

fingers crossed MethMan doesn't pick the lock with a windshield wiper insert or pry it open with a flathead

that affordability over the $300 alternatives is very appealing

I don't find myself in shady places too often - so that doesn't worry me so much - I definitely tried to find it's faults, I def don't think you could pry it open, its pretty thick steel and actually a really sturdy locking mechanism. Not impossible to pick, but it wouldn't be super fast/easy either. The only thing I may change/add later is figuring out a way to add 2 more bolts to the front steel columns to add a bit of security that way.

Over the weekend the maint light did blink for a couple seconds when I started it so I'll grab some oil today (Mobil 1) and hopefully change it by the weekend.
