My 2019 had that same “bumpidy/miss fire” feeling you mentioned until I had the fuel pump recall done - now no more - may jut be coincidence. Getting the SLT tune next Friday - can’t wait!

Funny you guys mention that “miss fire” sensation. My 2021 does this at 45-50 mph. I really notice it when I apply a small amount of throttle to maybe add 1-2 mph. I just figured it was the motor lugging because it’s only turning 1100 rpm as a result of the oem tune up shifting to 6th.

2021 4X4 Sport AC 3.5L MT - OME lift with Dakar leafs. 10x33 Coopers. ARB Bumper. KDMax Tune. 2017 SE AC 2.7L 2WD AT - OME lift with Dakar leafs, BA bumper, tooter manifold spacer, header, OVTuned. LED lights. Does not run like your average 2.7; this truck pulled a broken down HMMWV out of a wash. 2008 PreRunner 4.0L - 3" spring lift with Bilstein 5100s, ARB bumper, rear sway arm. Old Reliable, been around, beat up, and still runs like a beast.
I purchased and loaded the regular fuel - L throttle version in my 2021 MT 3.5L. The truck drives like it did before I put 33" load range E tires on it - those are heavy tires so that statement is significant. Mileage seems good (low 20's for all my drives this afternoon except one that was all up hill at 18 and one that was all down hill at 31) even with a few "spirited accelerations". It accelerates nice and seems to hold and pull up a hill holding the gear like it should.

You guys did good - especially since all you had to work with in my case is the motor. The auto-trans is probably what most people will feel as the the biggest improvement. In my MT truck I saw it with just the motor tune and regular gas. The truck will take off when you hit the pedal, and get good mileage if you drive it that way. That is good work; $100 well spent.

This is one day's worth of driving; purely subjective observation of someone who spent money and is looking for a difference. By the middle of next week I'll be used to the way it drives and won't notice the difference.

    Good work guys, Congratulations.

    Yep!
I have a guy coming tomorrow with a brand new Tacoma. He wants me to check the ECU and see if he is 04c21.
Anyone who can, needs to send OVtune/Vftuner the TCU files to get it supported.

And you should be. The time from when I initially PM PapaRee and was plugging my laptop into the OBD port and flashing the truck (with my vFTuner) was like 30 minutes.

OK I have to apologize as my concerns I feel were a bit paranoid. Being who I met and spoke with today, felt comfortable enough with the knowledge and skill base behind these tunes to give it a go myself. I know performance tuning can diminish life span of powertrain, but I feel that these guys really did their homework and know what they are doing. Not some fly by night guys that know how to work a laptop.

@PapaRee Let's say you got your hands on the FI tuning guide this week. How long would it usually take you to digest the new data points and come out with your first working tune? Is the FI tune going to be a major priority when released, or a side project?

I know that's probably impossible to answer without seeing the new tuning variables. I'm right on the line to pull the trigger on the S/C, but I think I'm too partial to the KDMax shifting to go back to the stock mapping.

If I had a SuperCharger tune for a Tacoma that was unlocked, it would not take long to add my changes and then get some testing done.
I just don't know when we are going to get the Tacoma FI tuning guide.
The few people that I have communicated with that have SuperChargers have said that they would rather have the tune. They say that the stock shifting and stock throttle is the the worst part about it.
I have reached out to Magnusson 3 times with no luck. They say they are selling them with no problems and don't need my help.

Someone should pretend to be a customer and say their tune isn’t shifting properly… (Maggy tune)

They have had plenty of complaints from actual customers! Its a shame they wont let anyone try to improve the tune! It wont take much to improve just the shifting!

I mean if you got a hold of a supercharged truck and did some Dyno tune research , you could probably sell it for $1500-2000 for it haha

However too much work and liability… hard pass… let them suffer.

I've been going back and forth with Magnuson in an email thread for the last few weeks getting ordering details. I'm going to let them know they'll have an additional customer as soon as we have access to update those shift points. We either need access to the tune file, or they need to take some advice from the TW tuning gurus.

They should be willing to unlock the tune for customers willing to waive the warranty and liability! I am good with signing any release if that is what it takes.

I think it's more of an intellectual property issue than a warranty thing. If Maggy releases their tune for us to mess with, then Urd/Harrop/etc could benefit.

I just realized we're totally jacking the KDMax thread, so I'll take my S/C woes back over to the maggy thread. I'll also add that KDMax is so good of a tune I can't let it go, even for a supercharger. Hopefully one of these days we'll be able have both
