I’ve got pretty good sized fingers, that double wire guard was a true pain to get in correctly! Well worth the effort though.

Ok, I think we all agree that stupid tailgate grommet was the worst part.

So my 20 SR5 doesn't have a harness under the truck to zip tie to...what did you all do for those that did this install

    TIA

I don't think its going to be a big deal. Maybe tiewrap/tape them? I noticed there's a lot of room between the tailgate and the truck. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Do you mean you don't have a backup camera or something or are you talking about the harnesses for the lock? Securing the harness I would think is just keeping it from being pulled on or torched by something hot underneath.

You should have a backup camera, the stock harness as a "T" plastic support coming off the frame. The wire is tucked in tightly, so I took my time using zip connectors. When you get close to the muffler, the wire tie wraps are a pain, got them started but used needle nose pliers to up them through.

Tip for two grommets. They only go in one way (asymmetrical cutouts in sheet metal). Once I realized that, and how to stack the harness, both sides clipped in easy (stack harness, clip bezel, then slide into sheet metal opening).

The hardest part for me was feeding the harness through the hole under the seat. I used the handle of a screwdriver to lift the carpet up giving me a little more room to feed the hardness through.

SR5's do not have the wiring harness running the length of the truck for the bed power outlet/inverter. So you don't have an existing harness to zip tie the lock harness to as explained in the instructions.

@cavcuz05 , just use any existing holes or places in the frame to run the zip ties through. Gotta get creative, but there are plenty of places you can use to secure the harness along the way.

Ya I’m not worried I’ll prob check in them once I a while. The tailgate exit point is pretty sharp around the edges so that would be my only concern.

Picked up this kit for my DCSB. Excited to have a locking tailgate! I have the bed light kit installed, however I checked under my passenger side and "my hole is open.."

I ran mine in the frame and secured it in various areas with zip ties where I could find holes. It is definitely not going to come loose. My only concern is potentially causing rust down the road in the frame channel from either trapping water or the exhaust shielding causing a problem. Curious if anyone else would be concerned with that?

Had the same issue as my 17 SR5 DCSB doesn't have a harness to zip tie it to on the passenger side. You can use zip ties and attach it to the frame the whole way. Some of the holes at the top of the frame have a sticker over them so it looks like you can't use them. Just use a screwdriver to pop out the stickers. I doubled up on zipties on those sections and used the metal zip ties by the muffler/CAT. It's solid and you'll be fine.

OK well my Caps lost, but hey - with the help of my lift, I got the locking tailgate installed in about a half hour. You guys weren’t kidding about the quality of the kit. Literally everything was spot on! Was nice to be able to sit and roll underneath to run the wiring. I didn’t have any wiring on the passenger side, but went ahead and tucked it all in the frame. 78B0EA06-1577-4D2D-B28E-320E3AC72D79.jpgDE78EC3B-567B-4D38-B487-C63853F07DDD.jpg

Those wire clips at the tailgate were a pain in the a$$.

SR5 doesn't have the wires they tell you to tie to because it seems like that wire harness they refer to is for the bed power outlet those don't have. So you find your own way to secure it. I just put in inside the frame in the upper edge of the [ it's shaped like.

You Canouks get more cool stuff than us. They make us pay more for TRD to get that. Heated seats aren't even an option on SR5 and I understand you all can have that too.
