same here. I’m glad i went 4.88 but i do more road driving than Offroad and sometimes i wish 4.56. That being said, my truck is around 6500lbs and supercharged. 4.88 feels nice even though rpms are higher than i like

What is your vehicle, transmission and tire size? Sometimes there is a huge difference in actual tire size Even within “the same size”

My truck is a townie daily driver every day. I live in a more or less outskirt of town and have to drive all over to get stuff done and the 5:29 make my truck feel like a Honda Civic especially compared to the stock gears. And I’m able to baby it and get 16-17mpg if I drive slow enough. 5:29 zipping around town is a dream and give you so much instant torque and power and also engine braking. I love it

My son has, he was freaking out about all the builds and guys there. Seriously impressive. It definitely was a fun day because my cousin is the one who founded FuelFest with Cody Walker, who is the brother of Paul walker. He gave us free VIP tickets so I got to go at all the special areas even though I’m not big on celebrities.

I have a 2014 double cab that is built like a brick. 6500lbs with a drifter camper, full steel bumpers and 35” mts. I get about 10mpg based on the dash (closer to 11-12mpg adjusted). It feels great on the streets but sitting at 2800rpm doin 75 is alright, sometimes i wish i had 4.56 to lower the rpm / cruise a little faster without increasing the rpms).

Maintenance and organization is today's goal.

We got WAY out of the best practices with last years complete stupidity and not camping.

    Screenshot_20210620-105502_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Going through the tool kit, ordering the missing pieces.

    20210620_105801.jpg

Burned this one last trip airing up. I need to start being a little more patient while airing up.

Also, made some room in one of the truck boxes by relocating all the straps and 2 emergency blackets to the Pelican on the roof.

    20210620_111324.jpg

Rearranged the molle panel and pouches since Jen wants the fridge on the driver side. The panel was on my seat, but with the fridge there, it was too hard to get to anything.

    20210620_111410.jpg

Made a spot for a new pouch. I figure smalls like fuses and assorted stuff would work in this pouch... ordered.

Fixed the arms on @foxrcing07 new, improved coil compressor. (two of them were facing the wrong way.

Put the legs I made for the old one, on to the new one.

Little crooked now, but they'll do the job. Also hosed down all the threads with Tri Lube.

A lot of crap and too much money spent
This is where I was at. I don't plan on the truck being dedicated to off-roading 100% of the time. I had this same internal struggle.

Anybody need a sway bar of a '98? I removed it and I like the way the truck feels so I'm keeping it off. Located in Modesto. I'll pass it on to any member free of charge. Sorry for posting this here, but I can't yet post in the buy/sell thread.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
2011 Taco A/T running 315/70/17 but the wheels I’m running are on the lighter side (sub 20lbs). Steel front and rear bumpers, BAMF sliders, aluminum skids, steel gas tank skid, overall can’t complain with the gearing. All I know is…even with this configuration it still is better than my 3rd Gen taco for driving

Well... continuing with the maintenance theme of the day.

    20210620_142825.jpg

Bought these fancy schmancy pads from O'Reilly.

    20210620_144535.jpg

Here's my trick for cleaning the brake pad pins.

    20210620_144323.jpg

Also pulled the driver side coil over and adjusted it 4 turns down. Truck still leaned annoyingly to the driver side. One day I'll get that where I want it.

Did an oil change and repaired a ground wire under the bed (for my rear facing lights) must have gotten caught in some brush. Rerouted it as well.

I also recently took care of the oil & various filter changes/greasings. Skids should be ready for a beating considering i just took them off and bolted them back up lol

I do think i may one day consider drilling some holes in my skids for drainage (they kind of hold alot of pebbles/mud)... But dam that would be a PITA. Maybe if i ever stumble upon a friend with a plasma cutter lol

Haha, i got through my sliders pretty easily. The frame was much harder of a steel and that was a pita tho. Plasma cutter would make short work of it tho. Would take me longer to take the skids off than it would to blast some holes/slots in it.

    In other news....
