    The riverbed is limestone and there are several caverns underneath where the water has dissolved the rock, at one point the river disappears underground and then shoots out the side of a cliff 100 yards down stream. At high water the volume of the water is more than the cavern can handle so the water spills over the top of the cliff. only lasts a few days each year. I missed it last year, exactly 1 year and 1 week ago I was too early, and missed it again this year, looks like I was too late. Always next year...sigh. Missed it the last 4 or 5 years!
