I posted a few weeks ago about a sticky throttle and despite the forum input and fixes, it’s still happening. 2020 TRD sport with AFE - CAI. I removed the throttle body spacer as many suggested. The thought was that the spacer might be hanging up the throttle body butterfly. I cleaned the throttle out with carb cleaner, removed spacer. Still, cruising @ 70mph and let my foot off the gas, truck continues to power and accelerate as if I have cruise control on, which I do not. I also upgraded from OV 2.0 to KDMax but that did not effect anything. If I put the AT into neutral when throttle hangs up, the engine revs and then drops off. Not sure what’s making the throttle stick or accelerate. I know if I take it to the dealer I’ll be told that they couldn’t recreate this. Open to suggestions on where to start.... thanks in advance!

Following, I’ve had this happen a few times. Usually I just press on the gas then let back off and it stops. Once or twice before KD max tune and once after.

Yes exactly! Given that this is has happened w several tunes, I don’t think that’s where the issue is coming from. I have also tapped the gas pedal when it happens and the engine revved and then dropped off, kinda like pushing a clutch which I don’t have of course on an automatic.

Theoretically if u let off the pedal and it returned to neutral, but the throttle plate stayed open, I'd imagine the CEL would come on. The ecu knows the throttle plate angle as well as accelerator angle, if they didn't agree I'd imagine there would be alarms goin off. Fuckery is afoot!

Maybe that's an avenue you should persue? Pull up throttle plate and pedal angle PIDs and see what they're doing? How easy is it to recreate?

For me, I can’t replicate it. Just has happened a few times. The times it has happened was after heavy acceleration. It could be my driving habit that caused it. I’m not overly concerned about it. If it becomes an issue or I can replicate it, I’d go to the dealer.

Not being snarky, but I'd remove aftermarket air filter and put stock tune back on. If it still does it, take it to the dealer.

My throttle was sticking from a Dodge floor mat sliding up. Do u have aftermarket mats that may be causing this?

for me it’s only been 2 or maybe 3 times in the past 2.5 years of ownership. The first time truck was completely stock.

OEM all weather floor mat in mine.

My gut says its in the pedal assembly. But I'm also dumb.

Yes it’s definitely intermittent. It happened to me about six times over 30k miles when I had that intake spacer on. That’s why I removed it. Since then it’s happened twice just over this weekend. The throttle butterfly is very “spring loaded” tho. It has very strong tension in opening/closing so I don’t see airflow hanging it up. Seems to me that something more mechanical or electronic in the signal is doing this... or... it’s something else like the fuel injection? In other words, something’s telling the engine to continue powering.

Now this is a possibility that makes sense. Maybe I should try and disconnect then reconnect the pedal input. I did have a pedal commander on there when I first got the truck but that was taken off long before this started happening

Start a poll. How many have had a throttle stick with a tune or stock. Then you will see. Toyota takes sticky throttle very seriously. I would imagine all the throttlesticks are with modded trucks.

Or, he just needs to flash back to stock as was suggested and he'll see.
I've been tuned on everything from 1.01B to 2.0, test files and my own revisions dating back to 2017 (on two trucks, '16 and '19), never had this issue.
Now, I do drive a M/T and at least one of the guys saying they have the issue has an A/T (in this thread)... so there's that. They are also both 2020 models..

I did not experience the sticking on the factory setup. The issue began after the truck was flashed the first time to 2.0. And now again on KDMax.

Ah ok, from your first post it wasn't clear if that was the case (that it didn't do it on stock calibration). The other guy said his didn't do it stock.
Have you contacted zendesk with regards to OVtune or the KDMax guys WRT this issue?
I'm positive Mat would want to know if 2.0 was causing it.

Mine did do it once or twice while fully stock and once after the tune. During the first time, I had started from a stop and made a left turn, and good acceleration, taking my foot off the gas it acted like my foot was still on the gas.
With the tune it was a lot less of a feeling, just noticeable once.

I’ve not really thought much but figured I’d follow this thread and add my experiences.
