Glad you’ve got your boy and he is on the mend. Can’t ask for a better gift and kudos to you for being a great caregiver.

it’s actually not too bad. I’ve had lots of practice and can give any of my cats a pill relatively easily.

once you’ve gotten into the practice of administering insulin for a diabetic cat over and over again, giving them a pill is pretty simple. ;)

Haha, well at least you got some part time love, funny that she's the only one I know that does it, the other two keep to themselves or sometimes sleep at the foot of the bed. Maggie is always nice here, but as soon as a stranger comes over she darts and disappears. She also seems to love pizza, crackers, cookies, basically any damn thing I'm eating in the kitchen, she must also have a piece

Glad to hear sir Oliver is doing well! :)

My old cat was the devil. She would attack people all the time. Interesting that people were afraid of my Rottweilers and leave the house bloody from my cat. Urgent care visits started getting expensive.

She would come up to you all nice, start petting her and then it would happen. She would flip out, do a Bruce Lee move on your leg (biting and scratching with her claws) and you would be a bloody mess. Several friends would demand the cat was either outside or in a kennel.

Hell, she would even attack my largest male Rott. He put up with it for about 2 years and snapped one day. I thought he killed her. By the time I got upstairs to stop it, Ouzo shit all over the place and was in Orion’s mouth. I yelled “drop the cat!” He did and I rushed her to the vet. She ended up being ok and just a little sore for a bit. He could have killed her but didn’t. They had an understanding after that.

Something happened with that cat. She was being raised by a friend that had a ferret. The two were inseparable. The ferret died and she was never the same again. My wife took her in before we were married so it was a package deal.

That was a good share, thanks.
Wife says, pick him up last night so I did and handed her Boogie, he freaked out then momma cat freaked out, it wasn't pretty, but kind of funny. Now 20210621_064037.jpg were making friends again this morning.

Henry gets two pills twice a day. Well, actually a pill and a custom capsule with four other meds that I compound for him each week. We have gotten pretty good at it, and can both pill him alone when needed - which is often lately as my wife is working 60+ hours a week due to Covid-19 vaccinations and testing. We just hold him close to our chest like a hug with one arm, reach around and open his mouth with a little pressure to the sides, pop the pills in with the other hand, and then squirt 5 mL of water from a syringe into his mouth. It sounds medieval, but it's not too bad and we are pretty quick after two years of practice. He spits one out about 5% of the time, so we just repeat the procedure. Luckily Henry is a sweetheart and very forgiving. After a few minutes of WTF looks, he forgets and moves on. Totally worth it. He just passed the 2-year mark after his heart failure diagnosis, and he is still stable with a nearly normal quality of life.20210408_145608.jpg

Super happy to hear that Ollie is doing well too!

My sister had a cat in the 60-70 range of the chonk scale we’re talking fat!!! One evening a great horned owl grabbed the cat (these owls are huge) and was trying to get airborne as the cat skipped across my moms 5 acres. When it got to the far fence line, after failing to get airborne, it had to let go of the cat. My mom and sister witness the whole thing. So luckily, it this case, being a chonk saved the cats life.

WFH today and Ollie won't leave my side. He's become so much more vocal and affectionate since his ordeal. :notsure:

 Poor cat, but at the same time that's a pretty hilarious image to think about

My wife's aunt/uncle have a cat, Libby, that is gigantic....probably 40lbs and she's not even a big breed. She's just really fat. Vet says she has a thyroid issue they can't get under control. First met that cat 4 years ago and thought she wouldn't make it another month, 4 years later she's fat as ever and still ticking along. I mean this cat can't even groom itself and has to be moved around the house manually. But her aunt and uncle look after her well.

Here I feel bad because my cat Harley is a few lbs overweight

The worst I've had to do yet was give Harley ear drops for his ear infection. Apparently it's good to clean your cats ears once in awhile because they don't do it very well themselves.

Putting liquid in a cat's ear is about as fun as it sounds. If the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil were a real life character he would be my cat after putting ear drops in his ear.

This was his first long trip and he did really well! Starting to not get so scared/ bothered by all the road and Tacoma noises. Sat in the middle most of the way and would look around from time to time. But mostly napped
