I could have sworn you asked this in another thread, and I offered a ride-along in mine. I'm in north county, encinitas area.

Not sure if this is even still a concern for you, just noticing this post a month later lol. but if you still want to take a ride, shoot me a PM

If you're staying in North County, Ponto, Grandview, Moonlight, Beacon's, Swami's, Cardiff, Stonesteps or Torrey Pines are all great. Moonlight gets pretty fkin packed though.

If you're heading further south, La Jolla Cove for the sea lions, Mission Beach, Fiesta Island, Windansea, Tourmaline, Coronado. Don't take the fam to Blacks since it's a nude beach.

You may have to deal with a bunch of us at Fiesta though, depending what day you decide to go. The fam may not be ready for that

Just spent the day at Del Mar, great family beach, clean with restrooms. If you let your family go in the water, which is warming up, try to be near a lifeguard tower, there are powerful rip currents waiting for the unwary. Like mentioned previously, any north county beach is the better choice then in the south.

While I love the Del Mar beach, every time I've gone there it's always been kind of a mess. not dirty, but tons of seaweed and ish. It also gets obscenely packed and parking is a flat out nightmare, even paid. Though it's been a while since i've been back so maybe i'm working off old info.

Seconded on rip currents though. always gotta watch out for those.

You can see several rip currents in that photo- blue water leading off the beach without any wave lines breaking in it. We used to use those to paddle out, then turn parallel to the beach to get into the wave lines.

It’s a nice beach, peregrine falcons nest on that cliff - it’s fun to see them make mid-air feather puff explosions out of unsuspecting doves and other small birds flying by. Nice visitor center up at the Torrey Pines park on the top of the hill too, worth bringing the kids to.

The Torrey pines glider park deal is pretty sweet for relaxing, just took the girlfriend there not too long ago.

If you plan for the zoo, you lucked out. Until today you had to have a reservation.

eh, it wasn't that big a deal.

the reservation thing was just to account for too many people attending, each time I went they were still selling tickets at the door. last time, i bought the reservation around 11pm the night before lol

Buying ahead of time really makes the entry easy as well. just walk right in basically.

Haha yup that was me. No worries, I don't have much travel planned for the next few months besides a couple weekend trips here and there so just let me know!

Currently rocking a BAMF front hybrid with winch, main 3 skids + rear diff and LCA skids, sliders, HC rear with spare tire on the swingout, bed rack, and RTT. Running it all on extended King 2.5 with remote reservoirs and adjusters, Icon UCAs and the Icon RXT pack on option 3. 33" tires.

I got some stuff yesterday for the sleeper Tacoma! Look at that fancy Billet compressor wheel! Pretty gnarly multi fin setup that’s super efficient. I cannot wait to feel the boost again...

I liked switching from my cast wheel turbo to the billet wheel. I actually have a wider powerband now.

Nice choice, it was an extra $240 for the billet wheel but more than worth it for the better power curve.
This truck is going to be fawking ridiculous!! The only limiting factor is the LS1 engine, they arent as strong as the newer iron block or even the aluminum block motors so Im going to have to build a conservative tune with not too much timing and an electronic boost controller to keep everything in line.
That being said my goal for horsepower at the wheels is in the 600 range so I dont end up killing the engine until I can get a stronger short block down the road after I get this one all fitted and tuned, that way its just a simple swap with some minor tweaking to get to 800-900 at the tire without too much trouble and see what wants to break at that point! Im guessing the trans will be the weak link (T56 6 speed manual) Might need to build the trans using the Viper mainshaft, etc...

600whp going to be nutty. You have enough weight in the bed? What are you tuning it with?

For now I am using HP Tuners Pro. I might swap over to a Holley Terminator down the line. I am also going to add a ethanol sensor so I can also run E85 for a quick extra 100hp, lol The gas station right down the street sells it so I just have to put some big ass injectors in it so it can provide enough fuel since you use a shit ton more fuel with E85 as Im sure you know. Not gonna add any weight in the back but going with wider tires. The weight bias with the V8 is actually better than the 4cyl adding more weight to the rear tires oddly enough. I tried to set the motor as far back as possible for better weight bias and it worked pretty well.

Negative ghostrider...Seems like its not the best time to find a vehicle with the prices being pretty high at the moment, especially Toyotas! Damn price is holding at about 15-20% over what it would normally be compared to just a year ago..
If I could just find a wrecked (not too badly because I still need a good cab) 3rd gen that would be great, I am planning on putting fiberglass front and rear anyway with LT, yadda, yadda..but I just dont come across that many and the ones I did see were totally fucked way too hard for me to make it live again, lol. Crazy thing is they still wanted some crazy cash for an utterly destroyed vehicle! Hard to imagine anyone paying that much but you never know!!
    Still on the hunt!!
