What else you got down there besides Gettysburg? If you were to plan a trip for someone that was coming to your neck of the woods, what would be on your list for them to see in a day. Then add more to make a 2 day trip and finally, a 3 day trip. And be serious.

11:30 - 4 on the lake . Too hot .

 

Basically, just Gettysburg.
You could spend a week there easily.
And the countryside is as pretty as you'll find in PA.

But if you insist...
If it's the middle of Summer and hot, go a half hour west to Michaux State Forest.
It stretches from the MD line all the way to Boiling Springs just south of Harrisburg.

Take Rt 30 west from Gettysburg to Caledonia; stop there to see Thaddeus Steven's Iron Forge.
He was a prominent congressman during the Civil War and the Confederates burned down his forge.
The Appalachian Trail passes within rock throwing distance from the Forge.

Then north on Rt 234 to Pine Grove Furnace State Park.
There's an Appalachian Trail Museum there.
Also, there are Fuller Lake and Laurel Lake for swimming/boating/feesching.
On the east side of Laurel Lake is Pole Steeple, a bare, craggy peak.
There's a nice trail to the top and the view is lovely.

We just had one almighty frog stranglin' thunderstorm here.
Gale force winds. Probable tornado touchdowns to the north on the Valley floor.

The temperature has dropped over 10 degrees here in a half hour.

 

Spent 5 hours mowing roadways and food plots today. Perfect weather, 72 degrees.

 

I’m going to plan a camping trip down to Gettysburg next year . We wanted to go this year but we have 3 trips planned already the furthest going to Hampton Beach NH for Seafood Festival. I hardly eat seafood the wife loves it .

 

Be sure to make reservations at a campground ahead of time.
