cool thing about portals as well is you can essentially add further gearing, so you can keep a big gear in the diffs which is usually stronger. Just so expensive. Usually used on solid axles as you don’t have to go to a huge tire size to get the ground clearance.

Any guesses to what the cost difference would be between these and putting in lift, gears, UCAs? I suspect it's probably 2-3x but since I have to ask.....

I think portals for Jeep’s are close to 20k….so with that guesstimate it would be better off spending it on suspension and what not. Or if you can…..do both lol.

It was around 25k USD for set of 4 portals last time time I inquired, that include brakes and most things you would need and it's considered the HD version, so its rated up to 160km/h, it'll increase ground clearance by about 6 to 7 inches.

I buy the cheapest ones at Canadian tire. Last about a year, no squeaking no smearing. Easy to change in the parking lot and right around $20 for a pair

A lot of mulla to only run up to a 35-37” tire with the front diff still being a weak link. Super cool though. Would be nice if you could get a 9” center section, keep the ifs with beefed up steering and the works. Would be very cool.

I think she will be ok with it if it's a none daily driver, right now my truck is at the sweet spot of just do everything well and still comfy.

Wonder if a chopper up tundra front diff works? The ring gear is 9".

that could work. May be easier to go to a pre made unit like this
    [IMG]

I’m sure a one ton ifs centre section could work too. Something from a Chevy 2500/3500. Pretty sure they have some front half kits that accept big front diffs.

I believe this is a similar idea but it’s built on a Jeep Platform. The price is insane though.
    https://www.kibbetech.com/collections/chassis/products/ifs-jeep-front-suspension

it’s a pretty complete “kit” other then the diff which I’m assuming is from a Chevy 2500/3500 based on the builds that company does.

So scs wheels sold out of their inventory drop last night at 6pm pst in less than 2 hours. The annoying part is that i received an email on Wednesday that basically said “covid. we don't know when but we will make an announcement soon, follow us on the gram. Also we dont do preorders.” Thankfully word on the street is kmc is gonna drop some shit soon so i dont have to win the lottery to just to get wheels

    rant over

Yeah I'm as materialistic as the next guy but $3500 for off roading wheels seems a little steep.

Darn, my next suggestion would be these Enkei and call it a day, but they are also 16s..
