Evening Bill I’m been going nuts had to do a 2 day training course it was mind numbing also getting the house ready the folks will be here tomorrow for the weekend.

We rented a cabin last week in N. Carolina for 3 days. Relaxing AF. Downtime is always good for you soul.

What training are you doing?

 

Heck ya, we’re gonna go tubing at a popular river just south of us and goto a concert Sunday evening.
I had to do some radar training it looks like we’ll be getting one sometime soon it was mind numbing.

 

Radar....as in traffic control?

 

Yea that’s what I do talk to planes all day and looks outside.

 

Cool. I didn't know that.

 

It’s a fun job most of the time.

 

So when I was a young lad in the early 70s I watched a show called "Emergency" and was convinced I wanted to be a paramedic.

The 2nd thing was a firefighter. Had a neighbor that was one and I thought he was the shit.

Then in the early 80s the whole air traffic controller's strike was on the news every night. And often while they were reporting on developments they would show some generic stock footage of controllers at work. I thought that looked like a cool job.

None of those came to fruition.

 

That sucks it’s crazy how something we recall as a child drives our ambitions. I wanted to be helicopter pilot initially but I never got accepted in to the flight program so this was my backup.
I had a good friend growing up whose dad was a controller he wore flip flops and tshirts to work I thought it was the coolest thing. So I pursued it thru the military and was one of the lucky ones to get a job as a civilian.
