Anyone have any cigars to recommend to someone new? I've enjoyed an occasional puff from friends' cigars like uncle @dumontrider . Kinda want to try to get into it a bit

I compare it to getting into wine. Just pick a variety & see what you like most. Then pick some more that have similar attributes. To the uninitiated the descriptions used won't mean much. But after a few times, and actually paying attention, you'll start to associate descriptors to flavors you like or don't. I'm in La Habra now. Drop a line whenever you wanna meet up at my place or a lounge. I'll almost never say no!

Ironman Foamcell 3" lift, ARB dual compressor, GoPro mount, BadElf mount, Drive grab handle, RCI skids, Victory sliders, half rack, TuffStuff Alpha ll RTT, Dometic 75 Fridge, extra USB & Outlets
I would start out with light to medium cigars

Connecticut cigars are real easy smokers. Habanos are probably middle of the road and Maduro are the strongest/more robust flavors. Go into a shop and just buy a few that look appealing. Play with the sizes too, as this makes a difference in your smoking experience.

cut it and smoke to the best of your ability. At least that's what I attempt when I get one that's one the crispy side.

I second this. As somebody mentioned before, it's all about personal taste. I'd start with robustos in case you don't like, you don't waste.

Gurkha's have really gone downhill. When I first tried them 15 - 20 years ago, they were fairly decent. Then they just went to poor quality stuff like what you pictured. I haven't bought any in many years.

A sampler I was surprised with was the Alec Bradley Sampler I got at a little smoke shop out of their little bitty humidor.
Had Prensado, Magic Toast, Tempest and I think Post Embargo in it. All very good.

    Sorry. I work 4 - 10’s (technically 4-11’s… but that’s a whole other issue of federal violations).
