Is that all running straight from ur 2nd battery? Iv always wondered about this bc I have my dometic running off my goal zero and my goal zero charges when I turn my truck on but it dies every now and then. Want a dual battery set up but don’t know how to go about it.

 

First of all great setup. I too rock the voo the doo the blue turd pro and my gf saw a pic and was confused because I have a golden mix and not as cool a truck yet

Yeah I've been mulling around getting a jackery or going full dual battard. I'm leaning towards the jackery still for portability and multi fauceted utility like home power outages combined with my honda2000 and camping away from truck etc.

 

I will prolly go dual battery if I continue to travel for work. Just haven’t done it yet bc I really don’t understand how to keep the power going when the truck is off lol I’m half retarded and have even taken electrical classes before.

 

Lol I should really take classes myself at this point but also at this point YouTube University has done my rig well.
Naturally there are kits available that provide everything but labor and the batteries.

Curious what kind of camping chairs those are.

 

SO!!!! They fold up super small, I fit all 4 behind my back seat, as well as 4 Nomadix towels, 4 Bearbutt hammocks, blankets, recovery gear, tools and a bunch of other crap. 2 of them are the super expensive ~$120 Helinox chairs, and 2 of them are the $40 Sunyear Amazon special... The Sunyears are literally identical in every way.... I would recommend those!

 

So as far as the wiring it's really incredibly easy tbh. Running them and dressing it all properly is a pain the ass but it's not complicated. The genesis isolator clicks on and off so you really dont ever have to worry about your starting battery. As far as stuff only coming on when the truck is on, thats just all in how you wire it. If you wire the switch straight to the source instead of an ACC circuit, that switch will work, and the device attached to it, no matter what is going on with the trucks ignition.

 

So I've made headway with the fenders, all the metal is cutout. I need to wash the truck tomorrow morning and then i'm going to paint the cut line so I don't have rust issues. I'll post a pic of that when it's done, I also have the flares completely cut and prepped.. I have the double sided tape, straight from Toyota, and the replacement fender clips should be on the way. Just need to cut back the tubes on the bumper to match the new fender size...

I did decide I will be cutting the back to match as well, it was so easy that I'm not even worried about it really.

Thank You! That actually means a lot.. would say the most useless mod on the entire truck is really the fog lights. Same reason I have no interest in filling my lightbar hole anytime soon. Pretty much all the stuff I’ve gotten is just to make it quicker and easier for us to get out. The bumpers and armor have just all came out of not being able to continue down trails and it being frustrating.

One thing I am going back and forth on is the Hi-Lift. They are great and all but I really don’t want to have to use it for changing a tire someday… I have a Pro-Eagle in my garage but I don’t wanna throw that on the truck every time I go out either.

 

This is such a sick build thread. Def watching this one.

 

Little update on the fenders. Just testing how they look, I think they came out awesome. Driving to Carson this weekend to have someone shorten the tubes on my bumper. Can’t wait to fill this with 35’s…..

OEM sticky foam reapplied with 94, still waiting on the clips…

 

Amber fog lights on the back of the truck are great for vehicles driving behind you on a dusty road...for what it's worth.

 

Got some pics of the armor and the solid new dent in the mid skid lol. Was under there looking at how my alignment could possibly be so shitty.. Still waiting on the final piece of armor to get shipped, the transfer skid. Lead times for everything right now are painful.

 

How did the bumper turn out?

 

Just finally got to it today, came out great. I’m going to throw some paint on it tomorrow.

Got another piece of the puzzle. Fitting the kids sleeping bags into the RTT and ditching the Bathroom tent for this rack mounted one, has gotten me down to 2 95L roam cases, down from 3. Fully packed with clothes and food. Nothing in the bed but the dogs and the fridge.

This unzips and deploys in about 30 seconds… putting it back away is about a minute and a half.

My next move is to sell my roll top table and figure out a way to mount a bi-fold table under my RTT. The Front Runner is cool and all, but I’m not paying $600 for a table…
