This is so misunderstood just like the oil change interval, only in reverse. Its minimum 87 octane, meaning it should work fine with it, but you can go higher if need be.

In oil, its 10k maximum and no more, but 5k is the recommended safe (catch all) play.

    Have FuN with that.

It says or higher because higher octane will not do any damage to the motor, whereas anything below 87 will/could. It's just a disclaimer

It's not so much the grade of gasoline as much as the crap like ethanol that's added to the gasoline!

'07 -'09 FJ all had the sticker, back in the day (can't believe I used that phrase) it turned off a few folks from buying one. In mine (April '06) I have only run 91 except 2x. Both times I had no choice in the matter, fueled what I needed. Both time the FJ ran like trash. It works out good though....If need fuel for my sled I can syphon from the FJ or if I need fuel for the FJ and can syphon from the sled.....all in the warm comfort of my garage.

some folks say the truck seems happier but unless you have a tune or S/C its just extra money that can go elsewhere. I would run 87/88 if I could.

Aside from having a tune that requires 91+, I've always ran 92 octane in my truck, because I also have a motorcycle and a Lexus that requires it. Makes it easy to keep track and tell the wife... EVERYTHING requires premium. That, and the price difference is marginal at best.

Unless you are driving a Supra, Toyota recommends 87 octane for peak efficiency and hopefully longevity. I stick with 87 on my Camry and Sienna and for sure for my Taco. The motorcycle asks for Premium only simply because Yamaha highly recommends it. Just 87 and save some dollars.

are you suggesting that the fuel is being sprayed into the throttle body to keep it clean? Please stop with this nonsense...

I pump 110 race gas in my truck then laugh at the poor people pumping 93 octane in their vehicles. Oh, wait that was someone laughing at me while filling up their Lambo. Sorry, I remembered what happened wrong.

Well...actually... If you want to get technical... The EVAP system DOES recirculate what it catches in the canister to avoid venting gas to the atmosphere to the intake... Although by the time this "gas" is recirculated back to the intake, it's a mixture of oil, water, and other crap.

But yes, I agree. While I do appreciate having the addition of port injection for cleaning the valves, gas (other than blowby) never reaches the throttle body. This is silly.
