anything worth doing is worth doing right. I’m sorry you can’t save all your precious dollar bills but if it’s got to be done … do it right .

if that rcv axle setup is still not doing it for you , you can run custom axles and knuckles to utilize fully floated hubs with any inner/outer CV + axle you like (not our shit unit bearings) .

If anyone tells you IFS 4x4 can’t work just tell them to get back in their junk yard SA swap “rig” and have fun driving below 3 mph to avoid rolling over.

Just picked up a set of their high angle ones myself , I have a torn inner boot on one of my factory axles and wanted to just do a quick swap and rebuild / trail spare the factory pieces

alright I guess I should have been more specific. I was referring to less than OEM quality aftermarket shit like Napa, vatozone, etc. companies like RCV and CVJ use just as good if not better than OEM quality I have a few CVJ axles as spares myself. My pockets aren’t deep enough for RCVs and I like the axle being the fuse in the front end rather than the differential anyhow.

I’ve had a full 3 inches for about 120k miles with the stock axles with no issues , until now , a boot cracked on the edge of a rib . No biggie

    I can't justify 2k for 2axles, I'd rather pit that 2,000 into a SAS

I compared a cardone CV to a DSS/carquest and the cup closest to the differential IS shorter by atleast 1/4"... I've never had issues with the cardone axles except they spun most of the grease out after 1 year.

Thanks for everyone's help, I appreciate you all❤️❤️❤️

I have 2 11/16" of lift and my CV angle is nearly straight across. I saw the cvj website, those red boots look nice. Thanks!

New Napa axles have treated me great and they'll see more abuse on my truck than most others on this site. The only issue I eventually had (after 2 years) was the outer boot slipped free, likely due to all the off-roading and constant mid-travel droop. The joints themselves were still fine.

They have a lifetime warranty so I brought them in two axles and left with two new ones. For $100 each, you really can't beat them.

No, only off-road turning. And I've never experienced this before. I measured an old cv and one that broke, the cup on the inside is 1/4" shorter

That's weird but yeah, it's well known that the cheap parts store axles don't have the level of articulation and overall quality that OEM has.

I have a (reman) OEM axle on my passenger side, and a Pep Boys poverty spec axle on the driver's side. When I jack the front end up, the driver's side has a good 2" less droop than the pass side lol. The cheap axles will bind up much sooner than OEM. Under certain conditions (hard wheeling, hard turning, etc) I could see them giving up the ghost pretty easily.

Thanks for your input, I had no idea other companies would skimp on that 1/4" of material making for a shorter product.

I'm going to look into some others. I can change an axle with my eyes closed now

CVJ is your best bet other than new OEM or high end chromoly axles like RCV. But when you strengthen the axle like RCV does, there is a school of thought that you are creating a weaker link elsewhere. If the axle doesn't break then that stress moves on down the line to other, typically more expensive parts.

But some do run those RCV ones and swear by them so who knows. I'm not spending $2k on axles any time soon though.
