I just purchased a brand new Tacoma 2021 TRD Off-Road. It did come with a leveling kit and aftermarket wheels/tires. I am experiencing a slight vibration at 20-25mph anything slower or faster doesn't do it... It happens, when cruising, decelerating, and when I hit the brake. Dealer said it was the tires so I drove it around and tried a few things.. when I put it in neutral it won't do it.. only when it's in Drive.. I have also tried the speeds in all gears 1-6 and it will do it. Any ideas? Have an appt at the dealer but it's a week out.

There is a TSB for driveline vibration in that speed range, but you already have the updated springs. Wheel base is really short on these trucks and the driveline vibration is hard to get rid of 100%. I'm assuming that's what it is, and unfortunately you'll likely be living with it.

I had the exact issue, it was tires for me. Switched to general ATX, instantly went away. Just keep an eye on it

Try 4wd and see if the vibration goes away. With it having a level kit, it could be the needle bearing.

They did that on my buddies 2019 trd which did help but there is still some slight vibrations present. Dealer told him it just the nature of those model trucks.

I bet that you're experiencing these vibrations with an empty bed- put a few hundred pounds in the back and go for a drive. If your vibrations go away that's likely confirmation that your driveline angles are a little off. You can fuck around with axle shims and/or dropping the carrier bearing, or just skip the trial and error frustration that will ensue and pull the factory drive shaft and replace it. A one piece drive shaft took care of 95% of the decel vibes in my 19 SR5.

On a buddies trd, doesn't matter if the bed has weight in it or not, you can actually feel some pulsing in the passenger seat. Its more noticeable around 70 mph.

Atx p rated or e rated??? I hVe nokian rotiva at and I can feel the tires resonant whwn driving.when I hit a small imperfection its even worse. Very annoying....i also get some type of vibrarion whwn braking unless I brake so slow that I basically dont hit the brakes...if I stop really fast the vibration is harder ans faster. Of I stop normal it may only be a few repetitions that I feel. I have wondered if itd csnter carriwr bearing or driveline angles ...i already have the leaf apeings replaced under tab so my next.move was to do a lift and get a one piecd srive shaft if hopes that it would finally go away...that and some generals..

Nope- no cutting necessary, no rubbing, not lifted. My truck is stock. The the one piece drive shaft from Tom Woods runs between the carrier bearing mount points that hang from the cross member. You simply remove the oem shaft and replace with the new one.

E rated- not a commuter, just an adventure rig.
Dropped about 2mpg with the weight over the OEM tires, but worth it.

And youve never run into any issues when loading the bed ??? It seems like there isnt much space between there for a once piece...does the one piece hang down a little farther then what the 2 piece did??? A few pictures wouod be hugely appreciated man. Ive been racking my brain about getting a toms woods one piece since the day i drove the truck home

The dealer tried saying this was normal, IDK how something like this is normal on a brand new truck, how do I get a damn refund on this garbage? LOL

I've had 500-800 lbs in the bed a handful of times and haven't had any issues. I do have sumo springs installed, which probably helps, but it seems to have plenty of clearance. There's no evidence that the shaft has ever contacted the crossmember. I'm not doing anything extreme daily driving, hauling stuff etc... but there are people who run these shafts who do all kinds of off roading. I haven't heard anything that suggests clearance is and issue.

It looks pretty tight for sure, but there's enough space- maybe 7/8" or an 1" on either side, and about 1-3/8" or so on top on the cab side of the crossmember where it is slightly closer due to being angled:

Damn. I want one. I'd prob do a little lift just to be safe. Maybe an inch or two but someday I'll get to do it....my new shocks just had one blow so now thete goes all my money AGAIN. So eventually I'll get there...

Simple question...probably answered elsewhere but it seems appropriate to this thread.
I had the 30-10mph deceleration vibration TSB 0124-20 done and it removed most of the 2 piece shaft vibration.
This was achieved by upgrading to off-road leaf springs (I had the weaker SR5 (no lift) springs) and adding a damper to the steering wheel
which reduced my ability to perceive what vibration remained. After install, they just checked the shaft angles were in spec. Nothing adjusted.
I do believe this whole issue is due to the 2 piece shaft and carrier bearing doing what any 2 piece system will do with weak springs.

So, question: If the 1 piece shaft (and no carrier bearing) eliminates this problem, why does Toyota use a 2 piece system in the first place?
It seems 1 piece would be cheaper for them to build at the factory (no carrier bearing and fewer universals etc).

Took it back to the dealer and drove one exactly like mine with all the mods and it seemed to do the same thing but the stock ones I drove did not... dealer is willing to put me into a stock truck but my payment will go up 20$ a month plus I paid for all those mods? Tough situation, deal with it or lose some money/mods. Just doesn't make any sense that it doesn't do it in neutral.

Actually it makes perfect sense that it doesn’t do it in neutral. In neutral, your driveline is under no strain and remains at a constant angle. Under acceleration(and braking), torque causes the rear axle to twist, changing the angle of your driveshaft just enough to cause the vibrations. You’d be amazed just how much axle wrap these trucks have under acceleration. Someone here made a GoPro video of it a while back. Really helped me understand what was going on.

I've noticed on a concrete highway, not asphalt.... in rush hour my steady speed of 23mph, it is incredibly worse.
