ah, did you ask about it? they probably didn't even think twice about the parts if not... and if so a lot of places won't install customer purchased parts

 

bring it over, we can do the brake lines in a beer or two max

 

All I remember is spending a couple hours trying to get that stupid brake hose clip off the front lines, my god that was a pain in the ass.

On the pass side I think was the worst, the header was right behind it so you couldn't push it off from behind. Think I finally got a pry bar behind it and was able to leverage it off that way though.

I've had the best luck cranking a pair of good needlenose pliers onto the tap and letting it rip. Though you usually end up destroying your knuckles when it does let go

They did the timing belt, so I guess that’s neat.


timing numbers don’t seem right though, unless they change with the temp

 

Phew. 6 hours in the car with management and 4 hours with a big customer. Time for some quiet.

 

Anyone have issues with high idle? I got back from the DMV and the 4runner is idleing at 1,500 rpm. I checked the vacuum lines. Thoughts on the next step?

 

Does blipping the throttle in neutral bring it back down?

 

@Sperrunner it's been a long time since we talked about it but I'm picking up a set of honeycomb wheels with ATs for the Ford tomorrow

 

Everything is breaking! I'm starting to get clunking, popping, grinding sounds when sharp turning and coming off rocks/curbs, I'm guessing this is a cv joint/sway bar/tie rod issue (or maybe ball joints as well)?

The parts seem reasonably cheap (for the most part), is it worth replacing the other older-looking front-end components at once while I'm down there as a precautionary? Is this one of the 'If one is starting to go the others are likely going to follow' situations? it looks like they've all about the same age (~10+ years). I'm working the vehicle harder than the last owner and it seems anything that was on its last legs is getting pushed over the edge now.

 

No, she goes right back up. The AC drops it a little but then goes back up after it is turned off.

 

Start checking ball joints and bushings for play

 

Passenger leaf spring is off.

nothing was completely seized so that’s good.
Still need a front hanger bolt though.

 

Yes it is probably worth it, especially if you're working in the area. Nothing sucks more that replacing and updating parts to have one close by it fail shortly after

 

Damn I guess it got hotter than I thought last summer. The fuel line and primer bulb on my mower are both showing signs of heat fatigue. The primer bulb cracked and the fuel line pinched itself off.

This damn mower is taking away from my fun project time
