    Well that sucks!

By the sound of it maybe she should invest in some driving lessons?

Clean them and paint them 1st. If you don't you'll be kicking yourself later!
As for the antenna, the 1st thing to do is ditch the 4 footer and get yourself a 3ft one. The 4 feet it too long and puts too much leverage on the mount. 2nd thing is to get a flexible antenna (they are lighter too) like a Firestick Firefly or a Wilson Flex. After that just bend the mount back and enjoy.

Take you time, clean them up, and make them like new. You know that you are not taking your truck offroad soon, so do it right the first time. You will be kicking yourself in the ass if your didn't. Get yourself a 3 foot firestick with a quick disconnect.

I might get a Rago mount then. Do you ever drive with the firestick on the highway?
Not entirely sure which one I have. @fatfurious2 which antenna was it?

Are there any super strong mounts that mount by the passenger taillight? I would do one on the bed rails, but the diamondback cover says no.
So, what’s the exact difference between a 3’ and a 4’ stick? Is it just a small change in distance due to the height?

But would anybody even entertain the idea of that 102” antenna with a clip to hold it down?

Seems like there is the consensus to clean and re-paint the sliders.

    You have this one:

I used a mount made by @Shmellmopwho . It was his personal mount, that I had needed in a hurry. Im sure he could make you one of equal strength (and youd be supporting a TW member)

I appreciate the shout out. I don't make them for 3rd gens though. The gap between the tailgate and brake light is quite a bit thinner and I only have them designed for 2nd gens

    Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
Ah, I think that's my problem. I hit a tad faster than that.
I can get a measurement for you if that would help. The Cali-raised one is only 1/8" thick, but there is still some space of sorts. I think the worst case scenario, I would need something that ties into the top of the bedsides or something.

No BS, a good chunk of that, if not all was at approx 80, give or take. Only speed the trans wasn't, making me crazy, just irritated.
    Antenna moved around A LOT.
Never an issue with the mount though.

    Morning all:pccoffee:

Random topic for the morning... I know I need it for flying domestically, but is there any other reason I give a shit about a Real ID? I'm due for my license renewal and I can do it all online unless I want a Real ID. I have a Passport Card and keep a Passport anyway, but maybe there are reason I'm not aware of.

@CttAznRanger I have a 3 ft tuneable firestick - made it out to LA and back, average 70 the whole way. Never had bending issues at all with it. Getting it set back up, me thinks, for the fun of it. CB. Might get another one and a GMRS radio and make them "hot-swappable" for when I go out and the group is using GMRS. Same cable, so I should be able to hot swap the antenna on the mount, and the radio in the truck as long as I can use the same PS. Or just leave CB, and use my HT for GMRS like I usually do :notsure:

I have a passport card (but not an actual passport since my only possible plan is driving into Canada) and didn't bother with the Real ID so I could renew online.

When you go to mount the sliders, assuming they are bolt on, grab a can or two of fluid film or woolwax and spray both the frame and the slider contact brackets. I pulled mine off for a repaint and found rust from the slight rubbing. When I put them back on I sprayed enough that it oozed out while bolting them in

Aren’t all IDs you pay for from the government real enough.

Nah, the real id has some extra tamper protection or some nonsense. If you want to fly you'll need a real id or passport. Might as well just get the real id anyways.

Nope fuck that, I can do the 10 year renewal online or physically go to the NH DMV... I've made my choice!
