Just perfect, builds on the design and not to mention, so well executed and thought out in adding a new background. Sounding like a basic bro in terms of my taste hehe (then again I drive both a Pro and Raptors).

Still looks an awful lot like a lifted Tacoma and just feels like one too, which isn't a bad thing. Let's hope the market responds positively for Toyota's sake.

Not a bad truck, just not something I would hold up as the ultimate truck design. It's more like Toyota said "let's make a bigger Chevy LUV truck"

Whenever I hear the term "Raptor lights" I hear it in my mind in Valley Girl speak, spoken by a middle aged man...the same person that would say I need 30 money instead of thirty dollars.

They are simply marker lights, nothing special, nothing new. Standard equipment on the short bus every Ford engineer rode to school in.

I agree, the design of the T100 was on the conservative side. At the time people said Toyota copied the early '90's F-150 and Mazda B-Series in the T100's design. The T100's did respond well to tasteful mods. Mine has a 2" lift in the front and 31 or 32" tires.

As far as this new Tundra goes, from what I've seen so far, I really like it and I could see it replacing my Silverado two-rig in a couple of years. Really curious to see what powertrain Toyota goes with and what the interior looks like.

To clarify: The Chevy (Isuzu) LUV was a solid mini truck that took a lot of abuse and kept plugging. Sort of a Hilux Lite®

    UPDATE:

As much as Toyota has tried to keep to the December 2021 launch date since they delayed 780B program in 2019 by 14 months, well add another month to that, as the 2022 Tundra will not arrive in dealers until January 2022, which is just a minor delay of a few weeks. It was rumored that the THS turbo V6 is not ready until spring.

2022 Tacoma is scheduled to arrive in dealers in October 2021 and ordering is already open, as well as for '22 4Runner, down from a previous delay of January 2022.
2022 Sequoia (LAST MY), is the first to arrive in September 2021. These dates are all still subject to change.

    • Tundra as the first US offering utilizing modular TNGA-F, the latter in planning for a decade.
    • Sequoia leaning on that, for MY 2023
    • 2022 Tacoma becomes 100% Mexico this year
    • 2024 Tacoma joins TNGA-F
    • 2024 4Runner joins TNGA-F

Thanks, I appreciate that. I can get carried away often, but glad it made sense.

I could easily be wrong, but very curious still if these two will be consolidated, like these two were? I own the former in Africa, a used 1996 example.

I posted the Hilux pic because the new front on it looks very similar to the new Tundra.

As for a merge with Hilux and Tacoma, I guess it depends largely on chassis and powerplants. The international community still gets diesel. It sure sounds like the next Tacoma will be hybrid.

    UPDATE:

I am learning (somehow) that the next Sequoia (660B) will be an early 2023 model this February with ordering opening in October 2021, but take it with a grain of salt. Production would have to begin in December 2021 ahead of that for the Sequoia. Haven't asked any questions to internal sources, to corroborate what I have seen, as I like to not be too obvious. Tundra is still January 2022, but is only separated 1 month from "2023" Sequoia.

I understood that and agreed, but was 50/50 on the caption. All of them are just about designed now, so we can only guess the final appearance (design) for the next 2 years.

The 2024 Tacoma will be both regular petrol and hybrid, as will the Hilux, with the latter still offering diesel. Whether they have become one body design, is still unknown to me. The aspect of the "discount" IMV platform shared with the Fortuner SUV and Innova BOF MPV, probably might have still dictated maintaining the separation between the two pickups. IDK honestly, as with TNGA-F, it should be better managed for consolidation anyway, as seen with the Venza being a rebadged JDM market Harrier.
    79421308.jpg
One of three on the IMV, the ugly ass Innova for the developing/sub-developing world, is just something I never think about and block out whenever I see one internationally. I doubt something designed to be so cheap, can join pricey TNGA-F. Yet, I doubt they'll drop that Innova. In that case, Toyota retaining that IMV is a possibility.
    2021-toyota-fortuner.jpg
The only other IMV I give consideration to is the Fortuner and it's future, since it is an SUV version of the Hilux, essentially a 4Runner-llte. As a product planner, I would suggest to building one global mid-size truck off of TNGA-F, capable of meeting needs in all markets and be adjusted per each of them, as was the case until 1995. Nissan might've abandoned that with the Frontier recently, but I believe in the modularity of TNGA-F combining the Hilux and Tacoma back into one.
    toyota_land_cruiser_prado_tx_l_package_70th_anniversary_limited.jpg
Right now, the Tacoma is a C-Channel off-shoot of the fully boxed 150-Series Land Cruiser frame, which is definitely higher end. The current Hilux is IMV Generation II (International Multipurpose Vehicle) platform, a cheaper product which is a step below and meant to serve rougher regions and always cost less than Tacomas when sold in the same market. The Tacoma is nearly a pickup version of the somewhat upscale Land Cruiser Prado 150, just without diesel engines and fully boxed frame. And as we know, very much a pickup version of the 4Runner.

That connection will grow much stronger, as the next Tacoma and 4Runner will be essentially joined at the hip, being produced in the same factory in Mexico and launching the same MY possibly (Tacoma Q3 2023 and 4Runner Q1 2024). Americans can justify the higher expense on a newer TNGA-F Taco, but will the rest of the world on a newer Hilux? This seems like the wrong place for me to discuss this, since this is TW and not Toyota Global Forum chat.

Certainly my man. I think it might debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, like the 2008 model did on November 14, 2007?
