    HERE IS YOUR ANSWER!
The manual clearly states use 87 or higher. So you can use the bare minimum or go higher. I don’t like to bare minimum anything that cost $40k. $.20 more for 20 gallons is four dollars if you’re sweating four dollars you probably shouldn’t have bought a brand new truck. I think the quality of the gas and the additives is probably more important than the octaves I would much rather have 87 of quality gas and 91 of crap. My buddy owns a Chevron and he even told me don’t buy for me go get it from Costco it’s the same-based product with different additives plus you’re paying for the name stay away from Arco and Valero and mom and pop stations as their quality of additives is junk.

I'm aware how Evap works. That's why I asked to clarify. The octane has nothing to do with present of a "gas" in the blowby.
You may need to catch up on "addition of port injection..." subject

Lol that was more of a joke than anything but alright.

    Port injection = before valves
    Direct injection = after valves
I mentioned that, as those are the only parts that see gas and FYI we have both.

I’ve always used 91 E0 or higher in all my Japanese vehicles. They seem to run better and get better gas mileage. I also like the extra cleaning additives in the premium fuel and of course no ethanol garbage. My taco purrs on 91E0.

I had a ranger and used 87 only, as the manual stated: “designed to run on 87 only”

Yes. If you use anything other than premium gas your truck will make fun of your manhood and turn your children against you.

There is a gas station in town where I live that sells 110. I’d be afraid to put more than 2 gallons in. Not because of the octane but because it’s $9.00 a gallon. But, I may swing by there this weekend and put a couple gallons in to see. Probably won’t notice anything but I know my bike likes a gallon of 110 mixed in with 93.

I will do that. I can’t remember what the exact mixture is in the 110 they have but I know it has a sweet smell when it burns and it’s purple.

Around here...the difference between Regular (87) and Premium (93) is minimum $.70 and as much as $.90. So for me...$14 savings on a fill-up is a no brainer. Truck is gonna last 300K+ miles regardless if you use regular or premium. IMO, it's a waste of money...kinda like like changing your synthetic oil every 3000 miles...sure it doesn't hurt anything, but it's a waste of money.

Were getting more like the Europeans when it comes to oil changes. Oil is expensive there, For a long time they have had lengthy oil change intervals.

You're mixing EVAP and PCV systems together. EVAP is gas vapor and PCV is the mix.

Your buddy may be right. Costco adds their additives themselves at each gas station.

Agree that being in tune is much more important than the octaves. It's much more pleasing to the ear!

I will throw in a full thank of High 91 Octave once every 4-5 months just a habit I guess for cleaning out the system. But I do use high test in utv, atv, boat motors, lawnmowers etc as I read it is better for them than regular gas.

I use regular and wouldn't even put in premium when towing. Might make a little diff with towing but gas is expensive now so not worth it

That is def your answer. Additive packages are diff from each brand, but have not shown to have a major difference between top tier brands

I agree and could also add that you have no idea how much additives each vendor puts in their gas. It could be so little as to not do anything. The government has established standards on how much detergent gasoline must have. Vendors say they add more but how much ??? I look for the freshest gas over top tier. A station that is always busy is always filling up their tanks from the refinery. On long trips I'll put in a can of something with PEA occasionally. I have NEVER had a fuel related issue in any vehicle I've owned in 40 years.
