Hybrid Bumpers: RRW vs BAMF vs Relentless

Hi All

Finally in the market for a front bumper and going the hybrid route as it fits my needs. I mostly commute, hunt and haul wood in my truck - no crazy offroading - so I need a lighter bumper for occasional obstacles.

Any thoughts or considerations on the RRW, BAMF and Relentless bumpers?

I configured a bumper on each website, and here is the breakdown with options, lead-times, and shipping for each:

RRW - low hoop, black powder-coat ($100) , 4-6 weeks - $1150 + $175 shipping

BAMF - low hoop, bare metal (powder-coat $300), bash plates ($89), 8-10 weeks - $841 + "XPO Freight shipping" Invoice sent at time of shipping (what is this?)

Relentless - low hoop, bare metal (powder-coat $250), 16-20 weeks - $1167 + $200 shipping

I'm leaning towards BAMF based on price and lead-time, but shipping costs could change that. The all look pretty similar, but looks can be deceiving. I've heard a lot of bad things about RRW customer service, but I have no experience with any of these companies.

What should I consider when making this purchase? Any known discounts for TW members?

Id make a trip out of it; see some sights and save on shipping.

I love my Relentless armor and they were great to work with during several different purchases.

I think the biggest thing here would be style preference and lead time, and that really boils down to what you want and how long you feel like waiting.

edit: on the discounts, the biggest sales tend to be around black friday. It my be worth it to reach out to each fabricator and gauge them on any available discounts for tw members.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I live in New Mexico, so a bit of a journey to see the bumpers in person. Style wise, I see no major differences to each bumper. Structurally, they all seem pretty similar as well

 

If the ultimate concern is shipping cost, maybe lob a call to xpo and ask for an estimate based on the approximate weight and size, and distance. They should be able to give an estimate; then you can narrow it from there.

Otherwise pick your poison. Wait a bit; order something with an unknown shipping cost, or roll the dice on a company with questionable customer service.

 

Shipping cost is not a deal breaker for me, so ill reach out to XPO for an estimate.

I’d either do BAMF or C4 Fab (another great option). I have a C4 Fab bumper now and the quality is great. I have BAMF sliders and they are extremely well built and the coating is better than anything I’ve ever seen

I live in rural New Mexico, so shipping to Albuquerque, 87106, is also an option is it saves on price. thanks.

 

We're in the middle of building a batch of 3rd gen Hybrid front's and have a few (5 or less now) unclaimed extras that will ship MUCH quicker than the site's listed lead time if one of the extras is purchased. You'd be best to call or email us to order to ensure you claim one of the remaining extras at the short lead time.

 

I would go with BAMF or relentless. I've seen all three company's products (not bumpers) and would happily run bamf or relentless, but not rrw. I just wasn't impressed with their slider design, and I'm sure that transfers over to other production areas as well.

 

You might check the New Mexico page and look for Travis. He is a Ruidoso Firefighter. He builds bumpers locally in Ruidoso.

 

If i remember correctly, the XPO shipping cost for my BAMF bumper was about $200. don't quote me on that though lol, it's been a while and I can't find the invoice


As far as quality, lead time, etc. BAMF was great to me. Relentless has good customer service, can't really speak on their shipping/lead times as I haven't ordered from them directly, but i have had a couple of their products and can say the quality is good as well. Didn't even realize RRW was doing bumpers, i thought they were a wheel company

 

I recall the RRW slider thread, and was not sure if RRW customer service has been an issue for folks. They make a nice looking bumper, however.

 

What configuration are they in? Powder coated? Front hoops?

Also, why is the TRD Pro skid compatible, but not recommended?

 

Right now they're just in-build so they're still customizable as far as top hoop options and finish/coating.

The Pro skid fits but our bumper is higher clearance than the factory bumper so there will be bit of a gap between the front edge of the Pro skid and the bottom of our bumper. If you don't mind the gap, then run it! Also works with all aftermarket front skids as far as I know if you decided to go another route on skids in the future

 

About $230 for freight to that zip on a bare metal hybrid.
