I believe some have tried but nobody successfully. You can buy the part and plug it in but I think more effort is needed somewhere, perhaps it’s in the ECU firmware somewhere?

Is this the grommet under the passenger seat that everyone uses to run wires into the cab? I can't find it for the life of me and I've been searching for a pic. Jackpot??

The one to the rear of the truck, left in the pic looks like the correct one.
When you feel under the carpet it's just under the passenger seat 2/3 of the way front to back. I popped out the wrong one first on my SR5. I had two grommets the larger one that's more forward is the wrong hole. You want the one that is smaller and a bit more to the rear and inboard a little. Hope that makes sense.

    Here

Look where mine has the wire coming out that is the spot. Not the larger hole. IMG_20210623_130943.jpg

Cool. Thought I found it but it’s not what I circled, it’s the smaller one to the left of what I circled (left if looking at the passenger side of the truck).

Just pop it off with a flat head? Cut an X, run wire through, reattach grommet?

What are you trying to do here? Run some wire into or out of the cab for some purpose? Which purpose exactly?

I was planning to attempt to locate some grommets with a hole for running wire, Jeff Lange posted part numbers in the parts thread, but I haven't tracked them down yet and who knows size-wise what might fit. I think it might be doable to cut or center punch the existing plug to turn it into a grommet though, just need to be careful to ensure it retains water resistance.

Yeah I'm just running 12 guage wire into the cab from the bed for a cab switch to my bedlights. I'm putting the switch in my overhead panel and would rather not have to run wire all the way from the rear passenger tail light to the front driver side kick panel (where I've probably got too many wires going through that firewall anyway.

Ideally I would go from the passenger side of the bed to the grommet under the passenger seat and then up the A Pillar to the overhead console. Definitely the shortest path. So I just need to run a thin wire through that grommet. I'd definitely throw some silicone on for waterproofing assuming I can reattach that grommet.

Why 12 gauge? That seems odd.

I would probably go with 12 from the battery to the bed/rear, use a relay, 20-22 gauge from some switch in the cab and if you do it with a ground switched approach you only need that one wire. Or 18 if it's easier to work with for the run through a grommet.

Going 12 into the cab seems odd to me, especially 12 to the overhead console, everything from the a pillars on up is tiny.

Maybe that was a typo and you meant 22 gauge? If so, should be lots of room in the passenger side firewall grommet and that's a bit safer as far as water intrusion goes, the extra length shouldn't matter at all.

It's just what came with the bedlight kit (might be 14-16 actually) I've already got the wiring from my fuse block and relays done and routed to the overhead console with the switches and everything. I simply need to get the power wire from my bedlights to the overhead console from the rear passenger side of the bed and the grommet under the passenger seat would be easiest.

What bed light kit is it? Is it MattGeko's kit. If so he would have you put a push button switch in the bed.

The Toyota lock kit comes with the grommet already on the wire at the right length to go under the body.

I don't know. I want to put a 12v power outlet in my bed. I have to see where to wire that up to the battery. I would guess running the left side of the frame is best and there is already wiring going that way.
I want it to use an air compressor for bikes. My Jeep had one in the cargo area and it was helpful. If my truck had the AC outlet I'd just get a 110v compressor.

That's the one! I've had that switch on my bed since I got them and the 2nd one went out. I love the lights but he had to send me a new switch about a year after install and now the 2nd one is down. They're plastic and I'm probably too hard on them (or the Oklahoma heat). Plus I love my cab switches. It's a problem. I think I'm on #7...

The wiring and everything is no problem. I just need to know which of those grommets under the passenger seat is the one everyone uses so I can wire the bed lights up to my overhead panel where the switch is.

That's my fault. I tried to clarify and did so poorly. When I search function anything with "passenger seat / grommet / wiring to cab.." this is the thread with a hundred hits and the folks in here sounded knowledgeable is all. Carry on

That's the grommet that the OEM tailgate kit uses. If you run your lighting wires through that grommet you will have to move your wiring if you ever decide you want the OEM power lock.
