Do you drive around with your Diamondback unlocked? When I was driving with the handles unlocked, the vibrations seem to easily shift handles into the open position. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem.

I never think about it while driving, it never budges.

 

How much do these suckers weigh? Google said about 80lbs, wondering if that’s the actual weight for a 5ft bed?

 

I don't know the actual weight but it is easily moveable as one piece with 2 people or in pieces with one person

 

The HD is 100 lbs, 50 lbs each panel.

 

Probably between that and 90 lbs. HD on LB is 110lbs.

 

I drive around town with it unlocked, but there's usually baseball gear and crap back there, so I lock it overnight. I lock it on longer trips out of habit, but I haven't seen any issues with vibrating or anything around town. I installed it by putting two 45# weight plates on each corner when I tightened the lock, but I'm not sure if that really made a difference.

 

What front bumper do you have on that fine looking taco?

 

Ok I finally drilled into it and it measures straight. You get lucky every once in awhile.

Tried out the hat rack mod last weekend at Stanislaus NF.

 

I love seeing all these modifications for the DB!

I actually just ordered the HD version myself.
I also got the upTOP mid height diamondback rack, https://www.uptopoverland.com/products/tacoma-diamonback-truss-bed-rack-2018-2021, and my girlfriend got a iKamper Skycamp Mini to throw on top.

Curious if anyone has that upTOP rack or a similar setup with the RTT?
The only pics I can find of it are the 2 on their website.

Anyways, the next few months are going to be difficult waiting for everything to arrive!

 

I didn't used to, but I've had the front one open twice at highway speeds when not locked. I'm now locking them each time before driving. I did remove the safety bar a long time ago. No damage from what I can see, but the hydraulic lifts are what caught it from going further. Be safe. Lock them up.

 

Mine stay locked all the time. I have a Pop N Lock on the tailgate so it is controlled with the fob. I figure, the Diamondback could technically be stolen/removed if it or my tailgate sit unlocked, so I just keep it all locked.

 

I know this isn't really a mod, but any recommendations on storage boxes that fit nicely under the diamondback? Itching for my cover to show up, should be here early this week.

 

There is the diamondback ones, like the cross bins and the side boxes. There are also the swinging boxes that bolt to the sides and kinda hug over the wheel wells.
