    Ok, so the Toyo Open Country A30s that she came stock with have made it 5 1/2 years. Not too shabby - they’re officially the longest-lasting factory tire I’ve ever had on a vehicle.

    Now comes replacements…another set of Toyos. This time, though Open Country AT3s.

    They’re more than twice as bright as my wife’s Prius original halogens, and a tiny bit brighter than my HIDs. The other benefit I’ve seen from them is clarity - the light spreads a little wider, a lot farther, and much more evenly, and everything within its throw is clearly illuminated.

    They’ve saved two toads so far, and that’s important to her. Toads are cool.

    So I just did my front brakes. 38K miles, almost all city driving. Put the Bosch pads on - they slid right in (once I got the pistons depressed).

    Hit something hidden in a pothole and went from 35 psi to flat in 3 seconds.

    Can’t get a replacement Toyo Open Country AT3, but since I got the tires through Sam’s and paid for the super good extra warranty I can get Cooper Discoverer AT3s for $80.

    This time I will be getting white letters, and they are by all means facing out.

    Merry Christmas to me.

    I went to get a rotate and balance to find one of the tires was cracked and needed to be replaced. No replacements available nationwide for any 285/75-17 BFG KO2.
