Does that ladder just hand down from the top rack or is it attached to the wheel as well somehow? (I assume it is removable and not like this while in motion)

As many as I can fabricate
Yeah I fab'd a hook at the top. It's set up for the right side, but I can move it to the rear or left as you see it here. When I'm done, I throw it in the back or strap it to the top. Weights 14lb. and cost $3.99 to make...LMAO

If I had to do it all again, I'd probably go AC. Way better for camping, hands down. And you guys aren't wrong about the aesthetic. I've had passengers in the rear seats so rarely and so briefly I could probably go without rear seats altogether.

I bought mid-pandemic, however, and dealers were asking thousands over MSRP for the rare MT access cabs I could find. Scored the DCSB for a reasonable price and didn't want to wait forever.

You can really test that theory with the utility cab rear seat delete option! I can hold... two people - including me. It's glorious.

As soon as my kids have their own cars I'll be doing the rear seat delete my Tacoma. If we all need to go somewhere we can use one of their cars. lol.

Damn that is one sexy Taco.

    on topic

while I'm a DCSB owner, there area a few times where I wish I had the longer bed. I'll also grant you that the ACLB does look more like a "rEAl trUCk" than the DC. But I do haul more people around then I need a longer bed. So far the short bed has handled everything I've thrown at it, from furniture, lumber and gravel. All that while I can still comfortably carry around my family and friends.

Next is off roading, the DCSB is a beast in the tight trails. I'd hate to drive the longer truck on them. After all that was the main reason I bought mine, for the weekends.

ACLB and DCSB are the exact same wheelbase. Only the DCLB would equal a bigger physical truck.

That's why I have a regular cab, in 8 years I've had someone in the middle once.
Also regular cabs are shorter for when you cannot continue and must go back. And I believe the regular cab has the highest load capacity as all versions appear to have identical suspension (not absolutely sure).

That's what I originally wanted ... Think it was called the 'utility cab' (?) ... But I would have had to wait 6+ months to get it. Getting one with the jump seats was much quicker..
