got tired of seeing how my tailgate looked. truck was wrecked a bit before....and shitty bodywork had been done on the tailgate. last week...i ordered some color match bed liner from the guy we get our paints from at work. took the tailgate off this morning at work. took it in and sanded it down in our body shop. sanded off all the old clear and crap that was on where the old emblems were. then, i filled the few small dents that were in the tailgate and sanded it down again. taped up the handle area and the hinge areas. wiped down with laquer thinner, then shot it with the color match bed liner. waited and let it set up for 2 hours, then shot the 2nd coat on it. letting it sit overnight, then gonna put it back on tomorrow after work. the bedliner material(quart),paint additive and hardener, plus an undercoating gun to spray with only costed me $42.................and work didnt charge me anything to use our bodyshop. pics of it finished and back on truck to come tomorrow after work.

installed my tailgate back on the truck today at lunch. i like the way it turned out...awesome texture. its a little darker than the rest of the paint on the truck, but im pretty sure that after it fully cures, and the sun hits it a bit, it'll be pretty damn close to the rest of the truck. now..its more durable, and thats the biggest reason i wanted to do this.

My buddy had bed lined his old VW Van... It definitely helped improve the look of the beat up old van, but it looked like a pain in the ass to clean.

Looks incredible! Are ya gonna leave it de-badged or put the big T O Y O T A across it like the old pre-tacoma days? Think that would look sweet on there!
