@MESO - i am ready to tinker!! MY BHLM is done with some retrofitted donor 2018 TRD Sport HLs , the amber boards are in, and now to wire up my peasant model ;)

I want 100% SR5 factory where stock inner amber bulb functions as normal as DRL and turn (as well as dim on headlight as is) but I want to get the led boards in sync for all the same operations. I am starting to catch on but loosing a bit of what I need to properly connect up for success.

I want to tap the OEM DRL wires out of the bucket but could use some guidance on the wiring paths as borrowed from your earlier conmments:

    TRD headlight DRL connector
    1)black
    2)red wire LED high
    3)orange LED low

I read this and want to ensure I retain it...
When the red wire receives 12V, they LED strip lights up at full brightness
When the orange wire receives 12v, they lights up at half brightness.

The RED wire on LED harness needs to tap into your DRL wire. On my SR5 turn signal harness for the driver side I have:
    1 black/white (ground)
    2 red (tail/park)
    3 brown (drl/turn)
So I believe I want tie RED LED headlight harness to brown truck turn signal harness. Simple so far if I'm right.

The remaining wire; ORANGE needs to tap off the headlight wire. This will dim the LED Lights at night when your headlights are on.
The reason for wiring it this way is if BOTH wires receive power at the same time.. the LED strip will default to the bright setting.

How to I tap this all above (assuming I have it stated correctly) to fold in the amber led boards to blink like my amber buckets on turn?

Really excited to get this setup, just don't want to misstep! Thanks for any help!!!

When you switch your headlight stalk to PARK or LOW the DRL/TURN wire on your truck's wire harness is shut off. The PARK wire is now delivering 12V. So, when your headlight stalk is in PARK or LOW your new LED DRL will dim as you're intending. Then, as soon as you turn your blinker/hazards on, it'll flash from dim to bright as it receives a pulsed signal (that get priority over PARK) on the DRL/TURN wire.

Thank you Kyle, I think I'm catching more. I still need to tap the Orange LED bar wire into the headlight correct? I am just trying to translate all the words to what I am trying to do to draw up a full picture.

OK OK I think I've got what you are saying. Too many comments and variations I was interpreting in postings was too much for me. I now have it working as needed with the only change of swapping the brown/SALMON of the LED harness into the RED of the SR5 DRL/Turn/Parking truck harness and the brown/SALMON of the SR5 DRL/Turn/Parking bulb truck harness into the RED of the LED plug from the headlight.

They both dim with the headlights on.
They both blink always when needed properly.
They both are high powered while headlights are off.

Awesome stuff, just need to solder it all and heatshrink tonight! Thanks very much!

Just realized I soldered those boards  Everything looks good! Since you're still using your DRL/TURN bulb as intended you shouldn't have issues using the new LED DRL as a DRL/TURN. I had a hyper flash on my setup but again mine is a little different. Just verify all functions with the stalk in each setting and you should be good to go.

Question for all of you. I have mine wired up now to where it gets power from the front blinker (which is also the SRs "DRL"). I do not have it wired to dim. Only on or off. Unfortunately since I've done it this way the LED DRL strip now blinks too, and I absolutely fucking hate it!

I have bought the v2 harness from tacoman18 and am planning on re-doing the wiring with it to make it a cleaner install. Before I bought his kit, I thought that it would disable the blinking for the DRL but as I read the post again... im thinking it won't.

What can I run the wires to to make it work exactly as a factory TRD OR trim truck would?

    Example:
Headlight stalk off : no lights on anywhere
Headlight stalk set to DRL: DRL LEDs only
Turn signals: only the inner amber bulbs
Headlight stalk set to ON: dimmed DRLs (or no DRLs honestly doesn't matter here)

    Any info is appreciated.

So if I did it this way.. would the amber turn signal and the drl not run at the same time? That's not how TRDs work right?

Does the turn signal and led strip burn at the same time doing it this way?

If you want them to act like they would on the TRD, you will need to add some logic to separate the DRL and the TURN basically. It can be done a few ways, but (call me biased here...) my favorite is this one for ease of use: SR/SR5 to TRD headlight conversion harness | Tacoma World While not a perfect solution (you will need LED bulbs for the turn signals as it grabs the turn from the rear circuit, so you don't want to overload it), and there is a small delay when you turn the DRL on (about a second), but it will do everything you want it to do with the stalk set accordingly.

EDIT: @Tater1727 Not sure if these would help you too.
