    Shoot me a PM.

Ill bet the 4WD ecu is completely separate from the main ecu thus not tuneable. There are likely shift parameters for stuff in 4low but thats about it that will be tuneable with regards to the 4wd system.

I'm hoping someone on this thread will give a newbie a few pointers. I have a 2015 Tacoma with 4.0L V6 and I'm looking to squeeze a little more 'get up and go' out of it. I just purchased an HP Tuner and was planning to make some adjustments but I'm not afraid to admit that I'm in over my head. I know my way around under the hood but I'm brand new to tuning.
All I really want to do is change the tire size since I recently went up a size and make any adjustments I can to give it a little more pep. The only mod I've made since I bought the truck was to add a K&N CAI and TRD exhaust. I know how this forum feels about the K&N CAI but I'm not motivated to rip and replace it at this point.

So my question is; What do I need to modify with the HP Tuner to squeeze a little more out of my relatively stock truck.

You can tweak your afr and timing tables to start. A better trans/shifting map is popular too.
I too would recommend a tune from justdsm as he will get you set up right.

Hey @nd4spdbh, I'm in the process of changing the shift points of my V13 trans tune to the V15 and was wondering if I am supposed to change the "Normal Fault" shift points and not only the "On Power" shift points? Thanks man!

Yeah dont touch the fault shift points, those are when the truck goes into limp mode due to over heated trans.

:spy: Gonna flash that when I get home and test over the weekend. Will report back after testing to see if it’s safe for the general public

But in all seriousness the tune seems to be working great. Put about 200 miles on the new @nd4spdbh super spice trans tune. About 80 road miles and 120 dirt with just about every situation hit.

For anyone curious, this super spice trans tune technically has a very deceiving name and to some may be the least spicy tune you could do. It pairs the spicy batch 3 upshift tune with the worst downshift tune possible lol. The truck will actually never downshift unless engine rpm goes below 650rpm I believe unless the shifter is moved into a lower gear.

Big reason behind this is the truck build (seen in video) and where I live. House to off road spot seen here. EA74F96B-FED6-4DE3-A88A-EA373AE867C9.jpg
Truck sees more dirt than street per year. And no matter how “spicy” @nd4spdbh could make a tune, I was never happy with how aggressive or quick the shifts came and hated the mid throttle gear hunting when I’d be feathering the throttle through sections. So with 25 years of riding motorcycles I said to heck with the auto, let’s try to make a “manual” trans tune. So keeping the spicy batch 3 upshift points for streetability and still making it able for the wife to hop in and drive if she wants. This tune allows me to drive the truck as if it were a manual when off road, using the shifter for limiting up shifts and forcing downshifts, this tune seems to be perfect for me this far.

For those wanting to try it out, I would say this is only for those that are supercharged. NA just doesn’t have the power to pull when you throttle down on “street” driving. Anyone running bigger tires needs to regear for the same reason. I’m running 5.29 gears on my setup. And lastly, this is specifically for those that think their trucks are “race” trucks. Where I typically drive I keep the truck stuck in 3rd or 4th gear running rpm’s between 3-4K and right in the meat of the power.

TLDR: thanks @nd4spdbh for finally listening snd helping me get a “race” tune for the race truck. Only been asking for a year or two. This tune is not for everyone and probably only a few other people that would really like this tune.

Where the fuck is the 4th Gen 4runner FML!

Is this tune similar to UCON?

Makes me curious. Since ethe UCON can tune it, same plugs as the Tacoma, I wonder why the HPTuner cannot? Possibly because the ecu's have not all been unlocked? @JustDSM

It's probably a calibration ID thing to be honest.

But what are the major differences in a UVtune and UCON? I know UCON does ignition timing. I know UVTune does Octane93 tuning as well as transmission. Their website doesnt really say much.

I sold my 2nd gen hptuned Tacoma a month or two ago and bought a 4th gen 4Runner last month. I haven't had the time yet, but plan on connecting to it and see what happens if I try to pull down a "stock" file, if it'll match up to a calibration ID or not.

One of the ideas Justin had that I still need to do more research on, too, is how plug n play a tacoma ECU would be in the 4runner chassis. If it's a matter of just swapping around a few pins might be worth it.
