500 lbs is a lot for a SUA that is not setup for 500 lbs. It’s gonna be stiff without that weight in it. My rack, RTT, 2 coolers, full size spare plus 2 boxes of tools and parts for camping put me about 1 inch from my 4 inch bump stops. So I’m limited in the go fast department while camping. With just the spare and parts loaded up for day trips it’s time to get stupid.

For those concerned with spring under causing issues with getting hung up let me remind you of “clampy”. This truck has run way gnarly trails than any Tacoma ever has along with years of abuse, all while running Deaver 62” SUA

Well, on the plus side the go fast driving doesn’t happen until dogs are on the ground and headed cross country. So realistically it should be ok I suppose. I just want to get my ass end lower without sacrificing bump travel a ton which really isn’t an option with SOA.

Just curious, what kind of dogs? With 6 I’m leaning towards chase dogs and maybe one or two catch…

We run Coyote, Bobcat and bear. They are tree and running dogs.

Let’s the engine breathe nice clean air. I for one had major issues plugging filters in a matter of hours when I removed my inner fender plastics. To the point it would set off my check engine light for MAF and lean codes. I copied JD on this and run a UMP in mine as well. Absolutely one of the best decisions made.

Yeah, I figured the end result is better breathing. I'll look them up, see how they work different from our air box.

Dave’s MAZGRANDE is also SUA in the rear it’s so interesting. I imagine he wanted the ride height super low? I don’t know how much read droop travel this cool truck has, but maybe it doesn’t need a ton either.

I mean, we don’t have desert type stuff here but we do have lots of silt. And that was always my issue. Literally 1 day out when it’s dry and I would have a CEL by the time I got home. So far I’ve been out half a dozen times and have yet to check it.

You have a cool truck man, how do you like those baja boss MT’s? I’m likely going to get some soon

Honestly, I feel like links would make the situation worse as I feel coils would be more sensitive to the weight changes. Maybe I’m wrong on that.

Thank you! I’m super impressed with the tires thus far. I know I’m in 4wd a whole lot less than I was with my STT’s. Decently quiet on road and seem to be wearing very well.

Would look stock if the airbox and intake tube were powder coated wrinkle black. (Looks really good as is though)
