For those of us who have been blessed with a real turn-key ignition, I’m curious if anyone else passionately defends their choice of inserting said key?
For me it’s always emblem facing. Used to own an e46 with that goofy hexagonal key so with that one I’d always make sure my thumb was “pressing” up against the flat side. With this Toyota key that means I’m now doing the same on the Toyota emblem, buttons facing the dash.
Let’s hear it - what’s the correct way to insert your key? I’m prepared to defend my position to the bitter end!134A54C6-D33B-45DA-8922-FD26EC5C46BC.jpg

I install the key in which ever orientation my hand picks it up in. Same result each time lol

Just got my 2nd MT Taco and over the course of 17 years I don't recall looking at it once. I guess whichever way starts your truck is the best :)

mostly however I pick it up. That being said, if I'm thinking about it i prefer the buttons pointing toward me (opposite of OP) because otherwise my fingers push buttons.

Is this TW's version of the over or under toilet paper debate?

Since my Tacoma has PTS, my Pilot was always buttons out.

I'm a little peeved that you think only MTs have key ignition, I'll have you know that push start buttons are overrated and my AT has a key ignition.... SIR!

But as others have stated, the pointy end goes in... and its Thursday, you're a day early for a friday thread.

I insert with buttons facing me, also opposite of OP, mostly because I probably just unlocked the doors and that is the way the key is already in my hand. Would waste time to flip it around…

    No poll?

PTS guys, what finger do you use to start your truck. Personality I fist bump it... I've got very small hands.

I insert with the Toyota logo "up". Don't worry, I think about this too. I believe that results in the opposite of OP.

Couldn't figure out the polling unfortunately, the raw data is definitely what I was after

    Edit: figured it out

Buttons out. Guess I'm one of the weirdo's who always puts the key in the same way. Call it OCD, Superstition or what have you, I'm just happy to be among friends

Mine is USUALLY buttons out, just because i use the open button with my index finger and just keep the key that way by habit.

I pay no attention to which way the key is oriented. It works fine either way.

I dont think she care which finger or how many fingers. As long as her button is push, she will turn on.
