    Well . . .

I would have grabbed an 2.7l MT if it came with the tow package, but there a bit of room in the middle there. Haha!

I haven't used it as much as I could have, but every inch has been thankfully appreciated.

Not this year (2022). While it is technically an SR5, it does get the Locker. I'd like to know if it is 8.0in or 8.75in, along with which braking and TRAC systems. Just kind of an odd mish mash this year.

Very much agreed there. For the price bump, the Skewp, stickers, and sparkles in the wheel wells seems odd.

The AC is quite large. I fit back there.

    Whoring out an old pic:
    IMG_20190309_155444.jpg

But, I did park next to a new extended cab Ranger the other week. There is really no room in the back.

I don't know what I consider the Trail. Might as well be an OR and ditch the BS in the bed?

If the DCLB is the Trail Limo at the same length as a Suburban, what would that be? Would it come with an overload axle in the middle? :D

I mean I used to say that too, I've owned and wheeled a 2nd Gen 4Runner and Range Rover Classic hard in the past with open FR diffs. Eventually if you keep pushing further you hit a point where you need good lines AND traction aids.
Well and the DSSV shocks which are the real party piece. I was tossing out some stuff that would be very easy low hanging fruit for Toyota to add that would significantly increase the value of the package as an off road tool.

I really need to hang with folks like you, just for a ride in the right seat.

Yeah, but those shocks down the road are a massive risk / liability. Keeping it out of warranty is like playing russian roulette, esp when GM and electrons are involved.

I knew peeps that got hoarked on motorcycles with active dampers. No thanks.

Fair. Eh, I've learned to live with the 5ft drawbacks. Doggo is happy because the back windows open(which she can operate herself... yay child locks).

Lol a buddy of mine has a 2002 Ranger if you want to talk about no room. I mean, the seats are sideways so plenty of legroom but good luck fitting your shoulders.

Basically stock locker and leveling kit plus the bed bins over the SR5 while the OR gets the locker and upgraded but not lifted suspension, ATRAC or MTS/CRAWL. Honestly ATRAC is an excellent system and very worth having. In off camber snow, mud or sand if open diffs aren't creating forward progress the locker will just make you crab down sideways. ATRAC somehow manages to send the power where it needs to be without spinning all the wheels at once and sending you sideways. It REALLY saved my bacon once in some deeper-than-it-looked off camber snow with a good drop at the bottom.

I have no clue where they will price it. Same as the OR and you get to pick between the leveling kit and the electronic systems? But I mean most people really off roading will upgrade the suspension anyway and ATRAC can never be added.

Nice find. I got my 2016 5spd a year ago tomorrow with 30k on the odometer.

I think that was definitely the case up until the last 10+ years, ATs have come a long way in efficiency and speed, beating out manuals in both in most cases. But of course they'll never be as fun to drive. I fear it's not much longer before Toyota decides to stop catering to the MT truck crowd though, esp with hybrid and electric technology growing more and more popular.

Toyota and Jeep are the only two left offering trucks with MTs. Nissan stopped after 2020, Ford/Chevy stopped awhile ago. Dodge had an MT diesel option up to 2019 I think but not anymore.

Ah yeah I would never buy one, but it is a really cool package.

A buddy of mine sold his FJC for one and has already had a ton of problems in like 15k miles(not with the shocks, but the high points are a total failure of the computer that runs all of the interior electronics and currently a variable valve timing issue causing him to get 12 MPG. Can't get it fixed because he was in Moab wheeling when it happened and cleared the code in mission focus mode. Dealer won't diagnose a warranty issue without a code so he's left hoping it comes back). He's probably unloading it and moving to something else ASAP. It does ride REALLY good off road though.

LMAO I just looked at the cost to replace those shocks.... jeeeeezus ~$3500 FOR A PAIR, not all four and no springs.

:hattip: Great point on the windows and my only real gripe.

True, but it was useable sideways. I rode in the back of an OG Ranger a couple times. Not long ago, I spent a few hours in the back of a Pickup extended cab. Not to bad alone. Two people . . . NOPE!

And those sweet new UCAs, depending if they help with caster.

I will pick a bone about the TRAC system on the 3rd Gen. It is really good with wheels in the air. The only thing that I can fault it with is that it takes more wheel speed to activate than MTS / ATRAC, which can be problematic when tilted near an obstacle where slipping down would be bad.

I did that when our Subaru threw a code. It was a still a problem, but it didn't come back for a while.

I bet. I took a CTS-v that had the MagnarRide for a spin. It was great when it was working, but I could feel it reacting after the fact. Lacking anticipation kinda ate at me. I didn't mention it to my boss, who owned it. Haha!

Yup! They were $3k for a single Ohlins damper at the time.

That's just not right for something that is almost guaranteed to fail.

Hey if they don't at least they're RED. I doubt they'll have as much adjustability as good aftermarket ones. Probably just specifically set the caster right for the amount of lift the new Pro gets on stock tires.

MTS/ATRAC equipped trucks use an entirely different power braking system(that's why the pedal on trucks with those systems feels kinda weird) so the computer can put a lot more power and more precise modulation to the brakes without a foot on the pedal. TRAC just doesn't have the braking force at its disposal to fully transfer power side to side with the large amount of torque at the wheels in low range(it must be pulsing side to side every fraction of a second to achieve forward movement without sliding sideways much if at all).
