Just had a good facetime with Riley from Locked.

He's....semi-partnering?... with Carbon for now to get orders out. Per him, supply chain and manufacturing timelines have been totally fucked. Regardless, he's confident in his product and is trying to get it out onto the market. Don't take my word for anything concrete, they just seem to be helping each other out with the post-covid bullshit.

I'm willing to give 'em a shot and see. I think he's just getting hardcore dicked by not having in-house capabilities (or as much in-house as would be nice) and hugely expanded leadtimes.

    Whole lotta stuff
I talked to him on the phone this evening as well, which went positively. Riley was really down to earth about everything going on from his side and how it’s been a production nightmare for him rolling out the newly designed shocks. He also apologized for the lack of communication, as he was not trying to blindside everyone. He explained that he wanted ultimately to improve his product by developing these shocks with carbon, having them built to his specs and internals.

He also explained that the new adjusters are a true DSC. He claims theres better flow of oil to the reservoir internally than the old adjuster and they are using a new piston within the reservoir that can be revalved using different shims.

As for the smoothies, we discussed the issue with the fittings on the shocks I received and he was receptive and offered to refund or replace them. He said he didn’t want to lose my business and asked for feedback on what could be improved. So he does stand behind his product, true to his word. After this conversation, I decided to keep my order in for coilovers and send the smoothies since they’d need to be changed and since I already have a bypass in the rear of the truck. Hopefully everything goes positive with the coilovers, which Riley made a point of asking about the kit I’m going to run and if there was any additional specs I needed.

So all in all, that restored a lot of my confidence going with Locked. Riley said he wants to be up there with the other brands and wants to see his shocks on more trucks. Funds willing later on, maybe I’ll order bypasses from them so all 4 corners match. It’ll mess with my OCD in the meantime.

So those of you that have prerunner style bumpers with a big skid plate in front. What did you do to relocate those lines that bolt to the front crossmember after cutting it out? Also what do they even go to and is there anything stopping me from pretty much removing the metal bit to make them shorter and further up out of the way?

What year is your truck? Auto? Maybe trans cooler lines because my manual didn’t have anything bolted to that crossmember when I cut it off.

2010 auto, trans lines would make sense in that case but then again idk cause the trans cooler itself is way above it behind the grille :notsure:

Yes you are just fine to do that. Worst case if you wan to take width measurements before you chop it out so you can make sure the frame separation is the same when you weld the new cross member in.

As for the lines, I just added some tabs to bolt them to onto my new skid plate support

If your gonna do it in two shots I would recommend fitting the new piece first above and welding it partially in then cutting the old out afterwards.

I mean chopping out the old cross bar and fitting/ welding in a new one should only take an hour or two. Then you can deal with the detail work like finding a spot for those lines later

Anyone know if you can relocate the speed/abs sensor from the rear axle of a 1st gen tundra? Mine is a 2004, so it utilizes the same tranny/tcase combo as a 1st gen taco (A340F) wondering if it is possible to relocate the sensor to there? ... Trying to upgrade the rear end without a C/E + ABS light

Can't. Life threw several grand worth of med bills at us so I've been working OT to bounce back. Maybe in a year or two I can work on the front end.

If you were even a little closer I'd give you a hand! hope the medical stuff all gets sorted out for you and you/your fam are healthy... Medical bills are not something I've ever had to deal with in Canada, so I can appreciate that.
