I remember a simpler time when smart phones and streaming didn’t exist. You didn’t roll up in the Blockbuster Video without a shower and some fresh clothes on. Never knew what lady you might run into. Pop that collar and loiter around the return bin as you were at the mercy of the selection on hand.
What store do you miss the most from the 90’s?

I never went to Blockbuster. My go-to was a local grocery store that had a video rental store with a great selection and were cheap. I used them for years until they finally pulled the plug in 2017 or '18.

Respect for that. The local video store was the original go to spot before it went away. They got too focused on tanning beds and went to the wayside.

I saw it in Bend, OR a couple years ago. Didn't know about it and was driving to my brother's new apartment when I looked over at a red stoplight and saw a Blockbuster. I genuinely thought I had lost my mind or fell back in time somehow.

I used to work at a gummy wards back in the day!

I don't remember who it was... You could grab any CD you wanted off the shelf, take it up to the "bar" & an employee would put it in a player for you. You could listen all you wanted. That was pretty cool. Was it Blockbuster music?

My memories of Blockbuster are mostly about renting N64 games. We didn't have a memory card so we'd get as close to beating them as we could in a week before returning them. When I got my GameCube I could at least save and rent multiple times.

We never got very far. Hydro Thunder on N64 was a legendary week in that basement!

There were 3 until a couple of years ago. I saw a comment on the story with a guy showing his Blockbuster card and saying he's almost out of his late fee lol.

Hollywood Videos. Was that just a California thing? They were around the same time as Blockbuster.
