Off-Roading with your dog!

Does anyone Off-Road with their dogs? I have a new dog 6 months old. I took him off-road for the first time today and he puked twice. Do they ever get used to it? Or should I give up being him?

 

Our dog took a crap in my dads old truck once when they went to town. Shes never been anywhere since.

I took my 3 year old Lab and my new 6 month old Lab on Tuesday and they were fine. I have never had problems but my parent's dog used to get sick. It took him a while to get him used to it. They started with long car trips. Their vet said sometimes it can just be anxiety.

 

My golden retriever loves going wheelin with me.

Going for rides in the truck is one of his favorite things to do.

 

my golden retriever is chill but he usually realizes that he is going to the vet then he starts to freaks but when he gets out he cant get to the truck fast enough

 

My dog lived at the pound his whole life until a week ago. Maybe I will take him on shorter off road trips till he gets used to it..

I just got a dog from my mom that she rescued. She is about a 5 hour drive from me and he didn't take the trip so well, having various orifices leak on the ride over.

I am really hoping he can become a good travel pet. Happy somebody mention anxiety, he was new to her and we don't know how many times he has been in a vehicle before.

To dig a little deeper into the title, for people whose dogs don't get sick normally, how do your dogs take offroading?

 

thats normal, make sure you open window for good air flow, motion sickness is key, once they get used to riding and get more comfortable they will get over it, "remember when driving that you have a dog in your truck" so go easy around corners and especially starting and stopping.

 

Mine used to get sick just traveling around town. After about third ride she was fine

 

my 9 month old husky does well with everything from a drive to the store to a 2 hour drive on winding roads. but my old basset hound would barf just going down to the corner. maybe its a breed thing.

 

Jaeger rides in the bed of the truck everywhere I go. He always goes wheeling with me. Rain or Shine. He loves it.

 

well the first time i took my roti out on the boat jumped the first wave and he crapped all over the place......
after that trip he never had any problems again......he would hold his head over the side and eat the waves of the side of the boat..........

my bull terrier goes in the truck all the time, on road or off he loves it. he sits up front or i let him sit in the back seat when the GF is with me.
no pics of him in the truck, but he knows what to do when we stop...

 

I'll have to look around I have a picture of my husky sick as shit on porcupine rim in Moab. She did not throw up but she was drooling all over the place and you could tell she was wishing she was dead.

I had a doberman that would get sick all the time if the ride was over 10min. Started putting him in the bed and he'd claw up the roof and shit all over as well as puke

 

What a disaster! Safe to say that I would never again bring that dog in the truck with me. When absolutely necessary, I'd get a cage to keep him in so I can just hose it out.
