What do you all use to keep the mosquitoes from feasting on you when out in the woods?

We usually camp in the desert this time of the year and mosquitoes aren't much of an issue but with the heat we headed for the hills this weekend. There are still a lot of patches of snow in the trees above 7,000 ft and the mosquitoes were brutal. The bug spray we brought was useless.

    Solid work.

I treat my clothing with permethrin (or buy pre-treated items). Works well for me with a wide brim hat and hair net.

Which bug spray had you brought? You know, for science; and so I can avoid it. :)

The mosquitoes buzzing you are local to your campsite area. If you clear out a good size area you will be set if camping for a few days. Don't get caught using it at at a NF or NP though.

I grew up on the NJ coast (Sandy Hook area) and this was a regular summer treat.

Some non-deet eucalyptus type stuff and some Off deep woods bug spray. Both have worked well for us in the past but this weekend they both worked for about 5 minutes before the mosquitoes were back.

Same. Front and rear both rusting at points that got some wear. I'd love to see about refinishing them.

Sup all, can anyone tell me the ammo situation back home? Haven't been back home for a while, and stuck in WA for the time being.

It's still expensive as hell. Some shops have a little stock here and there but it doesnt last. 9mm is $40-50 a box, 5.56 is still around $20 for 20rnds and .45 is $50-60 for 50rnds. I won't pay it myself and have been ordering online when I see deals.

I did score some 410 shells for my kids shotgun at the Damonte Walmart for $10 per box/25. That was the first time in months that they had any ammo.

Last time I went in I found a box of 6.5cm for 70 per box/20 and .12 shells were 20 per box/25. Like @trailbound said, I'd find online deals unless you're desperate.

Haven’t shot any guns in over a year now. Don’t want to deplete my stash.

I know, I've only got about 3k rounds of .22 but it's so easy and fun to shoot it wouldn't last a weekend.

Been looking at picking up some more online as it's more reliable. Current prices I've seen are .14-.28 a round. May pick up some if I'm feeling my stash needs to to be increased.
