@Dan 77 unfortunetely is right about the market. Its currently a sellers market at the moment. As well as a housing shortage. I would personally avoid new builds at all cost. Prices are only projected to keep rising in this area for the next 4 years. San Antonio is finally playing catch up to the rest of the big cities in Texas in terms of market value.

Sure beats paying rent though and throwing money out the door for something that will never be yours. I rented for years and now reflect on thousands of dollars wasted

 

Absolutely! But its not always in everyones cards at the moment to make that large of a financial desicion. So i get it.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday

This is good to know, definitely will keep you in mind. We were planning on moving this year but the way the market is, we just can't at this time. It's a great time to sell but we know we won't find what we're looking for right now. We're hoping things get better in the next couple of years

 

Well.. From what i can tell you based on projections are, San Antonio is expecting a 9% increase this year. As well as expecting it to increase continously for the next 4... its not getting any cheaper here. San antonio has been the cheapest metro long enough and "out of staters" are finally realizing this And moving in. Thus driving the market up with west coast money.

Its a tough decision. Personally, selling now is a good option and looking for a home that has potential/good bones ( fixer uppers). I'd also keep in mind the county lines. This can make your dollar stretch further since you will have lower property taxes depending on where you choose.

Yeah I get it, it's tough, we know homes won't be getting any cheaper and definitely know we'll have to compromise when it comes down to it, so we'll see. Our house is a good size just horrible layout. It's a four bedroom that should have been a 3 IMO but overall it's a good house that we don't hate just a little small for our needs. I like that it's a corner lot in a maybe 80-85 home cul-de-sac naighborhood. Definitely not a high dollar area but location wise I'm good with it, Southwest side of town right behind Lackland. After the winter storm we definitely know how lucky we are to be that close to the base. We have yet to ever lose power during any storm. Anyways we'll see what the future brings, and appreciate the help
