Not meat to be taken seriously but the law doesn’t seem to have time for much either.

GA is not Iraq, at least not yet. Atlanta and Disgasta excluded.

Yeah, Half dome the morning of day 2 with glacier point apron in the background. Super cool pitch because the crack/flake was perfect for foot jam with a bomber edge to grab inside. Easy but no pro for most of it so don’t stop and think, just go. Unlike most pitches where all you see is your partner’s backside this one started with a descent and traverse so it sets up the Kodak moment. Similar pic is in 50 Classic Climbs.

Could a non-lethal deterrent like pepper spray or a stink bomb be considered?

I have been considering a piece of expanded stainless steel mounted with stainless security fasteners.

Stainless is difficult to cut, the interrupted cut on expanded material eats blades and its noisy to cut. Security fasteners need a special tool to remove, add a little Loctite 271. They will need a special tool and a torch to defeat the fasteners. Not coming off silently or quickly. Goal is to make the neighbor's truck an easier more attractive target.

I've priced all the pieces from McMaster Carr for about $120, it could be done.

Cheaper than a pre-made plate and better airflow for cooling the cats. Good idea.

Put a double layer of expanded stainless, so blade gets caught between the layers. Wrong twist, and perps brake the blade.

I do not know 100%, honestly. They should be OK. I have seen pepper spray/CS gas traps integrated into home security.
But what happens if heat from the cats activates it? Rush hour crawling traffic in Atlanta or Chicago? It would be epic!

Well... the whole west coast is "up to" California standards now. WA, OR, and CA all have their smog standard. We don't test in WA anymore but the check engine light might annoy you.

WA doesn't do emissions testing? AZ only checks the ecu for codes and the gas cap for a tight seal.

We only tested in certain urban areas before, starting when the vehicle was 5 years old, then every other year until the last test at 25 years old. Starting in 2020 WA stopped all smog testing requirements for vehicle owners of any year. So now we have no smog check except that damn dash light.

Kinda the same in AZ. Testing once vehicle is 5 years old and then every 2 years thereafter I think. Test runs about $20. It's nice for those who like modding their cars, but our air quality has been ranked as some of the worst in the country. Hot summers don't help with that either. ECU programmers can clear/delete those pesky check engine lights. I picked up a cheap one from Amazon for around $40 to check for any codes before taking my vehicles in.
