Almost ready to throw the gears in the truck. Bought 5.29s from ECGS but turns out it might be sorta wrapped in the highway. Trucks got an r155f so .81 OD

    On 33s I’m thinkin I’ll be right about 3200 rpm at 70mph.

but the 4 likes to rev so I reckon maybe it ain’t that bad?

I run 4.88’s, but with an R156F (5th gear = 0.79) on 33’s. Your setup would be about 10% more gear. I wouldn’t think it would be that much different. More torque is always nice with this small motor especially if you are carrying a lot of extra weight.

My 33s measure somewhere around 31.5 actual inches tall. And your setup at 70 looks it would be about 400 rpm lower than mine at 70 or whatever given speed. I’m not too worried about it though, the magna flows actually pretty quiet on the highway so I guess that’ll be nice lol

Yea sounds about right. My point was that I would trade for 5.29’s in a second. My setup currently is ok, but I’d rather have the extra torque even if that means a few hundred more RPMs at cruising speeds.

EDIT: I should note that I have a double cab and I carry about 600lbs of extra weight so my opinion might not reflect your setup.

ya I noticed you had the double cab, and with the added weight makes sense.

I have a regular cab with not a whole lot goin on other than the rims n tires, and I have about 150lbs worth of audio equipment behind my seat. But not much other than that.

I think think that was ever a thing for me. My truck couldn’t climb hills at 70 when it was stock.

No regrets and its definitely torquey but im gonna go up to a 285/75R17 next time around.

I get around 13-14 but its also supercharged. When it was still n/a i got around 15-16 consistently

It turns lots of revs on the hwy but you should be able to hold 5th easily and shouldnt have to do the 4-5 5-4 dance on the hwy anymore. That was part of my reasoning to go with 5.29s

Really? Heck my trucks actually pretty zippy on 31s. I just do the downshift thing.
oh ok. Are you in a double cab? Or what’s ur setup?

I’m hoping to at least get 18 on the highway but idk. Never really paid attention to calculating fuel mileage. Is there a best way of doing so?

I see. And maybe you run the tank down to where the light comes on? And subtract the mileage the light predicts you have left? Pretty sure a lot of em have standard of like 20-30 miles or sumthin. Or am I just getting carried away with that thought lol

So I was working yesterday and pretty busy but how are you only getting 13-14 supercharged?

And how were you only getting 15-16 before? You thinkin it was like 14 in town n 17 highway-ish?

I typically fill up around the 1/4 or 1/2 a tank mark just bc they say not to go into boost with less than 1/4 tank. So im not sure how much id be able to get out of it if i ran it down

I drive it like i stole it lol. I get around 13-14 around town if i drive it how i want. And about 12-13 hwy for the same. If im nice to it i can see 13 hwy and 14-15 around town.

The 5.29s killed my hwy mileage so i actually get better mileage around town. When it was still n/a i would get around 15 hwy and 16 around town

The way the fuel bowl is designed, you could potentially run out of fuel and have things run lean bc with 1/4 tank or less you can empty the bowl out faster than it is able to refill. There is a one way check valve in the bottom of the fuel bowl that lets fuel in but not out so you dont run out on inclines or when the tank gets low. That’s my understanding of my URD recommends you keep 1/4 tank or more. Its also a good idea bc the fuel is what keeps the fuel pump cool, so the more the better imo
