Calling for Portland One piece driveline info

Sorry for posting such a defined question in such a general area, but I figured that this would get the most responses if they're even out there.

I'm looking for anyone in the Greater Portland Metro area that has gone to a one piece drive shaft. I've had enough of my vibrations! I've messed with the CB drops and shims and cannot find the correct equation. 4wheelparts in Portland said that they've done about 30 lifted Tacomas for Toyota over the years and each time the lifts created vibrations. their cure was to send them down the road to a driveline specialist to get fitted for a 1 piece. I'm about to follow thru with their recommendation, but first wanted to gauge experiences from others in the area. Whether you ordered from Tom Woods or kept it local, please provide some feedback.

first off, stay away from 4wheelparts. I hear nothing but bad news.

I haven't done a 1 piece, but I did quite a bit of research.

The only place I'm aware of that does a 1 piece is Tom Woods. the last price I saw was $458.
Note that there are some who have installed it and it hasn't corrected any vibe issues. This could be that it may have been installed without proper adjustment, or you are just one of the lucky ones that still have problems.
Last I heard is that Tom Woods provides a full refund - including return shipping. This is because they acknowledge that they don't have a full working solution either.

If you were to get it installed, I would probably recommend Six States Auto, which is a driveline specialty shop.

 

Six States is the shop that 4wheelparts recommended to me. They said that they were the ones who installed the 1 piece drive shafts on the dealership Tacomas a few years back. I'll probably end up going there since you are now the second person to recommend them. Thanks

I agree about most 4wheelparts about their customer service, heck I've been to a couple in Washington that were severely lacking. The one in Portland is different though. The sales manager Jody is awesome; he had my truck in the back for about an hour trying different CB drop heights and shims; when none of the combos cured the vibes he said "no charge". I initially went there b/c another off road shop in Gresham failed severely in customer service so in comparision 4wheelparts in Portland is my shop.

 

SIX STATES is the best NW based drive line shop. I've had a couple shafts made there, good work, quick turnout

no problem, wish i remembered the guy who made my shafts name. My brother is the one who told me to talk with him specifically and when i had my first shaft done at SIX STATES he gave me "fleet pricing" which amounted to i believe 20% off. If you go in, the shop is on Columbia Blvd. skip the office and just go into the shop and ask to talk to whoever is in charge. Good luck, and again I wish I remembered his name.

 

Was it Ken? I called them this morning and spoke with a guy in the back by that name. told me to come on in this weekend to get measured.

 

I go in tomorrow to Six States for the drive shaft swap. I'm very eager for the outcome since these past few weeks have been the most vibe/shudder filled then I've ever experienced.

I'll post once the swap is complete to provide feedback on the difference (if any)?

Thanks for the info on Six States '02 TRD; I knew I would eventually go to them, but your insight pushed me to get off my ass and move on it.

I know.. old thread! But it made me call up six states and talked to ken about my stupid driveline.
Im going to try and make it down there tomorrow after work. He said he would look at it and see if he knows why i cant get my vibes to go away.

Ive tryed everything. 2 and 3 degree shims, a whole bunch of different carrier bearing spacers. Right now i have it down 3/4" and it almost got rid of my take off shudder. But increased my 20 mph vibe and 55-60mph vibe. Soo im at the point where im done messing with it and just want a o e piece or have a pro fix it.
