Hey, I think Hitachi designed the 100 series electrical system. I knew something was up when I saw the Hitachi MAF. Yep. Dead give away.
This thing is more like a Nissan than a Toyota. Haha. I feel right at home now I discovered the fuse diagrams are only somewhat accurate.

To add insult to injury, for the 1999 model, fuse 34 for CIG lighter also powers the head unit.

If the 15a fuse 34 CIG lighter fuse blows, the center 12v receptacle stops working, and the lights on the HVAC controls AND the Radio. There is fuse #16 under the hood for the radio. But it takes fuse #16 (Radio) + #34 (CIG Lighter) for the head unit to fully work.

Yeah that was what was in my '98 LC, and it was a huge pain, but worth it. Took a few days.

Cleanliness is under there...basically door switch panels are just same as the door panels and then the centers were all black under.
This is my old one after the removal

I'm casually hunting a set now. TireBuyer has $80 off a set which is nice.
Glad to hear they're as good as they seem to be.

    Nice looking cruiser!

I found out this evening that Kerosene works well to remove the glue residue left after removing the faux wood trim.

The mid-80s MB W123 series had a mix of a black plastic center console with wood accents. I like the three-knob HVAC controls the best. You don't need to take your eyes off the road to operate them.

Thanks. I still want another 100....there are 556 days until we can start importing 105s, not that I've checked into it or anything.;)
Some vehicles look great with trim and some, well, nope. I really like that three knob.

I used a citrus based cleaner on mine to finish off the residue and little boogers. Can't remember offhand but might have it in old notes.

That's what my buddy's M3 looks like inside. We wanted to modify one of those panels and looked at getting another just in case. They're over a grand a piece :/

Ever notice that the steering wheel in those is off center relative to the seat and not pointed at the driver but rather at the door. It's for ease of ingress and egress but it's hard to stop noticing. My mom's 89 560SL has the dope wood trim, but it's surprisingly thin and cracks easy. Have to UV coat it a lot

I've got the hog ring myself; detent isn't all that hard to remove though unless your sockets are heavily coated or something.
