Yeah, even the REI hard tail line up seems pretty solid for $600. I get the Polygon ads on FB all the time and they seem interesting but I'd need to find a local one to check out

I've ridden a couple of different Santa Cruz loaners and they are super nice but I'm not ready to drop $4k on a bike haha

My buddy just got a entry level polygon bike and even that was nice (even my buddy whos got 10k santa cruzs was impressed and wanted one) came with mid spec Shimano stuff, dropper post, full suspension for like 1400.

the only difference as price goes up is just the stuff thats on it. Like it would have a fox fork instead of a suntro fork or shimano 1x11 vs a 1x9.

so you can get a really nice modern bike on a budget that has plenty of potential for upgrades.

Kona Blast was the best deal on a hardtail in my area. $1k got me Deore XT 1x10, Rockshox Air fork, WTB tubeless ready wheel set, hydro disc brakes etc.

Was the only bike for $1k I could find that came with an air fork.

It was whatever the shop in Santa Cruz put on; the bike started as a Trek X Caliber 7 but had upgraded front fork, custom stem and different cassette installed.

Hard tails give you more for you $$$ vs a full sus bike.

Buy once, cry once. You'll spend it upgrading eventually.

I think until it's time for boost I'm gonna plop a 750 Brawler carb on it. Then I'll find a good port injection manifold

Brings back memories. Thats the exact engine we had in our suburban. Shitty throttle body injection and everything.

Stock, it's a real under performer, but extremely torqey. My NA goal is 450hp. Should be easily attainable with intake, carb, cam, and valve springs. Blown will be a bit more challenging. But I have to get a feel for launching it at the track first before more power. And I will always post Dyno results, our local Dyno shop is full of great guys.

Cool. How are the heads on those? The heads on the TBI 350 were garbage.

What year did you get that had a 4l80e in it? Seems like that should be a '95 or so.
