Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
It's your $$$. Judging from what I read here on TW you may not realize the improvement you seek for the $$$ you spend. Besides, you give little info about your Taco for others to chime in about - i.e. year? Trim level (SR, TRD, etc)? Mileage? Mods (cap, lift, tires, etc.)?

    It's a secret
As long as you also slap on the K&N decal sticker the package comes with, you will for sure gain all the promoted horsepower and torque from their website/box packaging...and the lag, that will be gone as well...just like the first time you upgraded from an 28.8k bps dial-up modem to a 56k bps cable modem.

No you should not run an oiled filter on your truck. A dry filter would be a better option

    Still stock completely capable!
No this is not a performance vehicle the air box it comes stock with is actually the most optimal one for it! If you want to add a forced Induction different story!

Why is that? Is it not fine as long as you keep up with cleaning and oiling (and don't over oil)

Do you want well filtered air going to your engine? Then keep it stock. I saw a test somewhere that compared. With a K&N you’ll get a very small improvement in performance by some tests, at the expense of dirtier air that’s detrimental to engine longevity. Would you leave the air filter off to get better performance?

lag issues? Maybe you need one of these.

I love my 4 banger! I put the pedal to the all weather floor mat. No lag, no sag.

All i can comment having the K&N intake on my 2001 4.7 tundra made no difference in performance, just more intake noise.

Pedal Commander might be a better option.

I suppose it'll look impressive when you pop the hood. If that's your thing.

I don’t know about other peoples experience but I’ve used K&N for years and have never had any problems of any kind because it. It’s not really a popular choice on this site though.

Curious about that as well. I’ve had a K&N engine filter and cabin filter installed for all 80,000 miles I’ve gone so far. Re oiled engine filter at 40,000 and 80,000 and they didn’t even look all that bad. Lots of cleaning out with cleaner and water. Dry it out. Re oil gently. Let it dry and wick. Touch it up. Dry overnight. Installed it back and haven’t had any issues thus far.

Now a full on intake I can’t see helping at all considering the stock one is fine and already pulls air from the fender anyway. That seems like a waste.

For the V6 a good tune makes more difference than any piece of hardware (other than FI and possibly gears if you have a heavy truck with large tires). But there’s really not any for the 2.7L I don’t think. Best to just use it as it is for that model. Know it’s limitations as that’s how it was purchased.

You could remove the filter completely and probably not have any issues. Doesn't mean it a good idea.

I’m not completely sure if no filter is the same thing as a K&N but maybe.
