What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Oh no we have Plenty of off road locations and over landing places around California. I have take a Lexus GX on some expeditions into near by states as well. But this is a 2002 tacoma doublecab 4wd. Its like a rare ferrari to me

I towed a zero turn on a 12ft trailer once with mine and it did not like it at all

Wouldn't worry about it. How every other lca mounts from long travel kits(exception being camburg).

 

If they were loose shit would move around and develop slop

 

What I did was put flat washers between the sleeve and frame mounts

A plus is now the bushing has a smooth surface to rotate against while still being snug

Usually the frame has gouges from the original washers on the lca bushings that I feel would chew up the bushings

 

Just installed a swing-away hitch mount tire carrier by a local fabricator working out of his garage.
Not bad! The tire extension is a little too long but he's gonna fab another section for me so the tire doesn't stick out so far, but this will do for now.

You can't help but notice the carrier sits slightly skewed but that's not the carrier. My hitch receiver is what's actually skewed, which is why it angles out away from the truck. The long extension exagerates it even more!

Can't complain for $350!

In either case, now I can actually use the bed of my truck!

 

I only moved it around the yard. I thought for sure it would be sitting on the bump stops but it still had 1.5" to go.

Actually ran out of gas yesterday. First time that has ever happened to me.

It coughed and died when I turned left onto the road the gas station is on. I was about a block away. Fortunately is fired up again and ran long enough to get to the pump. According to the pump, I was able to put in 18.499 gallons. That is without a 2nd click.

 

Getting your monies worth out of that tank eh?

Anyone have any advice on getting the UCA bushings out?

and for those that have replaced factory brake lines with fancy metal ones, did you just zip tie the lines to the spindle? Mine didn’t come with the bolt bracket

I've had my bed off doing a small frame repair, patching a 10" x 6" bed rust out, new muffler and tailpipe, rustoleum rust reformer paint, and fluid film. Set and tightened the bed this afternoon. Hope to finish re-assembly tomorrow.

Owning a tractor makes things so easy. One man job.

Honestly, when it stalled, I didn't think it had run out of fuel. It kind of felt like it was a continuation of all that crap that has been happening with my idle and a lot like the trouble I had in Colorado last year. So when the pump said I put in 18.5 gallons, I wasn't sure what to make of it.

FWIW, I knew I was low on fuel but not that low. The scan gauge, which is normally very accurate, says I should have been able to put in 17.5 not 18.5. So you may be right.

it should not have been an issue. As Dan indicated, there's something up with that pump.

That would put it more on what's up with the idle, that it stalled but not because it ran out of fuel.

Maybe it's the heat here. the redhead is pretty pampered....
