Ditch light relay

    Hi, I’m new around here and I need some help.

    I was installing my ditch lights, and accidentally blown the relay. The relay is 12v 60amp 4 prong and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Some of the ones I found are 60/80amp or 70amp.
    can someone help with some suggestions? I don’t know much about electrical components.

    60 amp is a *CRAP* ton for ditch lights, I run my rigid ditch lights on like a 5amp relay.

    A standard 30a SPST relay is all you need something like this easily bought from O'Reilly's.

    Question is, how did you blow your relay? Are you sure you didn't just blow your fuse?

    Hi, thank you for responding. I checked the fuse and it not blown. I’m guessing it has to be the fuse because it doesn’t do the clicking sound. I accidentally let two cables touch and yes I did not unhooked battery like I was supposed to.

    I made the same mistake and ended up blowing the fuse. You should have an inline fuse to the power supply, did you blow that one up?

    If you accidently shorted out the wires ill bet your fuse is blown not the relay

    Yeah those eBay lights you posted probably only pull like 6 amps for both of them, my rigids if I recall correctly only pull about 1 amp.

    I'm using a OEM mini relay for my ditch lights.

    I think it's either a 5 or 10 amp.

    Also, it is possible that your relay failed, I have seen some of those eBay light kits actually use smaller cheaper internal relay components compared to what should be inside the casing.

    That should say point-six (0.6a) not 6a.

    Just remember you can calculate amps very easily. Watts divided by volts. So a 30 watt light is under 3 amps draw.

    Thank you guys. I switched the relay to the 40amp they have at Autozone for 8 bucks and it worked. Thanks again.
