Thanks! I have a bunch of wires coming in that boot. SPOD, coax for vhf/uhf antennas, and other stuff.

I assume I can just run the 12ga wire to the black box (which I suspect is some kind of voltage reducer?) where the cigarette lighter adapter is attached?

I assume I cut off the plug on the left and wire the black box to the battery that way?B955EB9A-DFF4-4749-A90E-2EC94F6EC904.jpg

I suppose you could, but why not just plug it into a cigarette lighter?

Correct that is how mine came wired, two bare wires coming from that box.

I stuffed that box inside the kick panel and ran the wire to the weboost under my seat.

FYI - I bought a Front Runner antenna mount used off of the BST forums here. I bolted the antenna with the side exit and the spring extension. I did not add any extension poles and when I turn the mount to lay flat there it does not hold it likes to keep rotating. If I tighten the bolt then it will stay but when I rotate it 90 degrees so its up it loosens the bolt just enough such that it won't stay when I turn it back so it lays flat. I might have to resort to just putting a strap to secure it when its laying flat.

    Kind of a bummer...

Just out of curiosity, do you think its possible to use that mount on another kind of roof rack that isn't the front runner? Like maybe attaching it to an 80/20 extruded aluminum track?

    Apparently I missed this.
No, no issues with not using the spring.
However, the RAM mount ball, knuckle, and base does NOT work well at highway speeds with high winds. It seems to be ok up to about 60-65MPH, but at 70 to 75 and if there are high winds then the mast is going to rotate back. That's pretty much what I was expecting, and it's not a deal killer. But for me, I am looking for another mount option, probably using one of the other mounts that I picked up.
If you are just going to use it when stationary and keep it down/stowed when driving you should be just fine.

    Asking for @Otis1382

Anybody have any updates on folding mounts? What worked, what didn't?

So after getting tired of having the RAM mount get to the point where it was just laying back against the rack/rooftop, I ordered an L bracket from Gigaparts. It has three small bore hole in it, so I fit the bracket over the outside edge of my roof rack, drilled two holes (I think they were 1/8", and then tapped two M4 machine screws through it with nuts on the back side for security. Just got it on today, so haven't had a chance to really test it out yet. But anything is better than the RAM mount.

Thanks for the update. I'm going to go with the Rhino Rack folding mount in this case. Glad I didn't end up installing the ram mount stuff

Finally got around to doing the installation and grabbed a few shots as I was getting my tent prepped for the upcoming trip.
