Toyota TRD OEM lift kit

1/2" bigger than the yellow/blue bilsteins on the trd offroad

 

The rear shocks can not handle a 1 inch block, they are too short. Plus the ride would suffer!

 

If you did a 1/4 inch shimon the front would have fixed it. Worked for my truck.

 

Are you guys telling me I can't put a 1" rear block with my OEM rear shocks?

 

I think 1'" would be ok. I put an AAL on my 2nd gen tacoma that ended up raising it 2 3/4" ( more than it was supposed to) and used the stock shocks. They would fully extend if I went over speed bumps but tgat was the only time

 

You can definitely put a 1" block with the stock rear shocks. Pretty much every 3" leveling kit with the spacers uses a 1 1/2 spacer in the front to get you the 3 inches in the front and a 1" to 1 1/2" block in the rear with the stock Offroad/Sport/SR shocks.

 

You can but the mismatched shocks I think would hurt the ride. I mean by the rebound of the shocks would be different. Whats a few hundred bucks when doing this, also your putting in a block so might as well do the rear shocks. The stock rear shocks just aren't designed for the 1 inch lift. I would not do it.

 

By "fixed" do you mean the rake?

I'm looking at the TRD Lift Kit, due to my truck having the long bed I'm certain the dealer won't install it, but I like the idea of the grill and the lowering of the adapter cruise sensor

Long time reader, first time poster. I just got this lift installed on my 2020 TRD-OR a day ago, and I noticed a few things seemed off. The nose seemed a tad high with the level, but off road it seemed nice if a little bouncy. However, hat bouncing translates pretty significantly when I hit a small bump on the road. Basically after a small bump the nose bobs and the truck rocks front to back slightly ~3-5 times before settling out. Is this normal with a lift like this? This is my first pickup and first lift, so I'm not familiar with what should be expected in ride change with a small leveling lift like this.

I did a little digging to try to answer my own question, but I think I'm just accumulating them now. My latest is from looking at some posted images in this thread of other installs. I think the dealer installed my front coil perches upside down, but I honestly don't know. Again next to no experience in this. Here's a pic, are they flipped? If so, it would certainly explain why the nose seems a tad high.

Look upside down, mine looks like this, ride is not at all like you describe. Rides close to stock, in my opinion better.

 

Ok. Thanks for the quick input. That explains why it seemed off. I imagine the springs not loaded as designed would screw with the ride. I'm the first install for this kit at at my dealership, and it took 2x as long as they thought it would. Since I'm the guinee-pig, I guess I shouldn't be surprised to need to go back for something.

Ah well. At least nothing broke when I took it straight from the dealership to an old quarry to test its mettle. I think I dodged a bullet there.

 

Was the sway bar rubbing on the front shock on the red TRD sticker or is that a photo illusion?

Looks like a photo illusion. There's a light reflection in the same shape (but opposite orientation) right above the mark you're referring to.

 

Can confirm; just a glare artifact in the photo. No rubbing in the sticker region.

I’ve just dropped it off to get the install corrected.

 

My 21' OR should be arriving at dealership in the next couple days. I called the parts department today to get a price on the lift, $2400. Does anyone know if the salesmen would be able to get me a better deal if we work it into the final sale price?
