Makes a huge difference if you love what you do. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve loved all of the jobs I’ve had.

Right…. Aren’t you guy baking alive over there?
It’s really not bad temp wise. Like 80. But it’s like 80-90% humidity with no wind. Aka a sauna.

    Alright then :)

One trip, my dad and I were Elk hunting in south-central Colorado (near Alamosa). Our route was highway 40 to New Mexico, then up through NM to southern Colorado. As you may know, or could have guessed, New Mexico has a large number of Indian Reservations throughout the state. You pass right through most of them on the main highways / roads without even knowing, it's not an issue. So this one night, on our way back home to California after the end of the hunt, we stop for the night in the middle of "Nowhere", New Mexico. As in, nowhere near any towns or cities. We just pull off the side of the road, or on a small sideroad if one is around, toss out our cots and sleeping bags, and get some ZZZ's. So about 30 minutes later..... and up comes a police officer, with all his flashy-flashies on, but no siren, at least. He comes walking over and asks who we are, what we're doing, etc.. We explain. He says "Ok, not a problem, do you have a camping permit?". Camping permit?? To stop on the side of the road?? And then... we find out he's an Indian Tribal Officer, not a highway patrol, Sheriff Deputy of "usual" LEO. He explains the spot we picked to stop is on Reservation land, and therefore all we need is a free camping permit.

Free, you say? That sounds pretty good. How do we get such a thing? Well, we would have to go to the Reservation administration center. Which is a good miles away. And since it's 11 PM.... not open until tomorrow morning. Well, farkle..... Do we have any other options, Officer? "Sure, all you need to do is get back in your truck and drive another 1/4 mile and you'll be off Reservation property, and you can camp anywhere." :facepalm:The Officer said we could follow him, he would show us to a side road 1/4 mile away, off their land, where lots of people go to camp for the weekend in summer. So, we load the cots and sleeping bags back into the truck, and go find a new spot to sleep.

Sounds like the end of the story, right??

So... about 5 hours later, all of a sudden we start hearing the loudest commotion you can imagine. We open our eyes to find a never ending stream of logging trucks passing by within about 30' of our cots, all headed up this road to go to work for the morning. That parade of trucks lasted a good 45 minutes..... and we couldn't even leave until they were all gone, as it was a single lane gravel road.
