I'm looking into installing a killswitch dirrectly at the fuel pump for my 2017 tacoma. I wanted to know if you have to drop the tank to get to it or if it can be accessed from another location.

Pretty sure it can be done both ways.

    But why at the pump?
    That’s a lot of work.

Why a kill switch? These trucks are nearly impossible to steal.

Yes, you drop the tank and get at the wiring from there if desired.

Best would be to do it at the ecm.

I frequent mexico a lot and over there its common to get carjacked. In that case I would install a delay killswitch to give the thiefs time to get away from me, but not enough to get far. It's really paranoid but it would give me peace of mind.

Interesting. Can’t say I know an easy way to achieve your goal.

Maybe stay out of Mexico? But that might not be an option for you?

    Dang brother. Stay safe!

    Leave your Tacoma at home.

Buy a POS beat up Ford Ranger or a Mazda B2200. The more rangy, the better.

    Drive the POS south.

If its a DCLB or access cab you can get to the fuel pump via removing the bed. If its a DCSB you need to drop the tank.

Interrupt the juice to the Fuel Pump Control ECU Assembly with the delay relay. :burp:

So you would actuate the kill switch while being carjacked?

OP, you could add something like this:
    upload_2021-6-28_13-32-29.jpg

    upload_2021-6-28_13-53-39.jpg

    Or a little simpler:
    upload_2021-6-29_9-13-53.jpg
    Unplug connector F42.
De-pin the original connector wire #1 (pink)
Remove the tape securing the loom for the 3 wire of connector F42.
Pull the pink wire out of loom.
Insert removed terminal to new 2 pin connector. (1109-same as front turn signal connector)
Measure return distance for new wire. Strip n crimp terminal with seal both ends of wire.
Insert into other slot of same connector, insert wire in OEM loom, insert new wire terminal into original connector. Tape loom. It'll keep OEM look.
Run wires from Delay Relay project "module" to male connector.
Mate connectors. Secure the whole install.

    (test function before securing anything)
