I'm pretty sure the ring gear diameter 8" vs 8.4" won't matter because I've heard that they're all 8.4" they just used different names for locker vs non-locker. Also given that the pinion & carrier are being changed too that means it should all work...I think.

I'm relatively confident it would fit, I think I remember some people talking about swapping Open Diff 3rds for LSD 3rds before...which I'd essentially be doing the opposite. I looked at the bolt patterns and they appear to be the same, If the axles are the same, then I think it should bolt up and work. Need to look at some part numbers and decide if I want to regear or not. Buying a front clamshell from EDGS is added $ I hadn't planned on spending. Any experience re-gearing in here? How big of a pain is it to set backlash, pinion preload, etc on the front? @dirty deeds Did you buy a clamshell from ECGS or change the pinions yourself?

Thanks for the offer, for now I’m going to try to stay consistent for a 5 tire rotation. I’ve got 5 16’s on it now with 33’s, but next up is 35’s and there really aren’t any options for 16 inch wheels

I got my diffs in "trade" from Gid, they were ECGS setups. He was going to 5.29, I went to 4.88, so he used my stockers for cores. When I grenaded the rear, I did a swap with ECGS.

I've been doing a lot of research on gearing. I think I'm going to soon do the OV tune and regear my truck for 4.88s next year (I don't ever plan on running tires over 33s). Over the winter I picked up a 1998 Camaro Z28 with low miles and I think it's proven to me I'm out of the sports car phase of my life . So I think next summer I'm gonna sell it pay off some taco debt and put a little money into it to make the drive ability a little better.

    Congrats!

I started my new job last Monday and will be moving in two weeks! We’ll be county neighbors now, I stayed in Clermont county just moved out of Loveland school district and into Milford. Still a Loveland mailing address though.

Yep, very close! I’m a Milford mailing address now but live in Miami Township…between Milford and Loveland.

Yes sir. You’re probably not far from me at all. I’m in Miami Township now, between Loveland and Milford. Clermont county is far cheaper than Hamilton and township living is where it’s at, no taxes! I’m only moving about 3.5 miles down the road towards Milford. It’s really purging 30+ years of my family’s crap that’s making this move suck so much…

Anybody know of a place within few hours of Cincinnati that has a 4 wheel scale rated for a 6000lb+ Tacoma?

I've seen plenty of scales that weigh the whole vehicle, but I need one that measures the total weight on each wheel.

Most places I've reached out to have a 5,000 lb limit, most of the scales are just for race cars

You need to find a truck stop or an official DOT scale on the side of the highway.

Why the hell is your Tacoma SO FAT?!
