Ok. It ain’t so lol. Weighs about 4220 lb. My 2WD weighs 3980 per specs, probabaly less since I have the utility package. Ford? Been there done that, I pass. Happy with the truck I have!

We all know about the "Found On Road Dead" and Fix Or Repair Daily," but Ford backwards is drof and that stands for "Drivers Return On Foot"

I had a four cylinder SR DCSB. It ran so smooth! I liked the exhaust note better than the V6. It was slow, for sure, but it wasn’t terrible.

That looks more like a better R/T than anything IMO.

Why do people buy four cylinder trucks and think they will have what we now consider "power"
Gotta slap a turbo on and youll be good

I had the four cylinder and 5 speed manual (2016 4WD Access cab). On level ground it was good. Driving in the mountains was where it was somewhat underpowered IMO. I traded for the V-6 and 6 speed MT and like it much better.

As a comparison my wife's is Subaru about 25% lighter and has about 30 more HP. Ideally I believe about 200 HP would be adequate for me in the Tacoma.

Wheels, tires, intermittent wipers, better rearview mirror...
I'm new here, and I'm just peeking into the 3rd gen channel to see what's up. I am sorry to hear of OP's distasteful reaction on the 4-banger. So far my experience has been on the (2nd gen) 2014 Tacoma base model, 2wd, with a 2.7 liter engine. The power is adequate for everything besides fast acceleration. We towed a micro teardrop trailer that weighed 700 lbs. from Texas to Kentucky and back, with 4 people and all their camping gear. Pulling out from the on-ramp onto the highway when going uphill resulted in a horsepower output reading of 182 on the scanguage, the highest HP we observed on the trip. That intense flooring it lasted only for a few seconds, less than half a minute.

So I wonder how it is going to be on the upcoming trip where we take it out west into the mountains. Something tells me the big mountains will see our pedal go to the metal for more extended periods of time.

I think it probably helps as far as the "feeling of power" you should keep the 4-bangers on very reasonable tires and wheels, not much bigger than stock. That's my two cents.

Well just the other day i was on one of the highways here towing my 5x10 utility trailer with a lawn tractor on it. Traffic was a bitch, and i had a couple slow pokes in front screwing with me slowing, and speeding up. I put up with this chit for a few miles. Soon as i had a seconds chance i nailed it with the v6, and passed them going from 50-75 mph in a few seconds. Speed limit was 65 mph on that road. If i had the 4 banger i'd probably still be behind those morons.

I picked up a 2020 SX AC 4WD AT 2.7 tacoma 5 ago its more than sufficient for what it is i have no complaints here. If you plan on towing, hauling a heavy load often, or lifting the shit out of it with big tires then get the v6
